Guadalajara station is a railway station located in the Spanish city of Guadalajara in the autonomous community of Castilla - La Mancha.
Its located on the route of the classic Iberian gauge railway line linking Madrid with Barcelona and is 8 km away from the Guadalajara - Yebes station built on the new AVE line.
There is no railway connection between both.
It has Commuter Train services.
In addition, its part of the C-2 and C-8 lines of Cercanías Madrid as an eastern terminal.
It also fulfills logistic functions.
The station is located at kilometer 56.8 of the Iberian gauge railway line that links Madrid with Barcelona at an altitude of 644.1m between the stations of Azuqueca and Yunquera De Henares.
It is located northwest of the city, between Francisco Aritio Street and the Camino Viejo De Cabanillas.
Its classic design responds to the patterns followed by MZA in its second category stations.
The main building, 44m x 10m, with lateral disposition to the track, has a main body to which two lateral wings are annexed.
The central, two-story area contains the waiting room, ticket offices and baggage area in the lower part and a living area in the upper part.
A metal structure that spans the entire main entrance and is crowned with a triangular pediment in which a small needle clock is located serves as a decorative element.
The station had more decorative elements, such as classical pilasters topped by Doric and Corinthian capitals, but they were lost in the successive reforms that the building underwent.
Same happened with the depot and repair shops.
Inside it has three platforms, one lateral and two central ones, all of them covered with their own canopies, which are accessed by five tracks numbered as tracks 2, 3, 1, 5 and 7, with track 2 being the closest to the passengers building and track 7 the furthest away.
Four tracks numbered as tracks 4, 6, 8 and 10 finish in shelters on one of the sides of the enclosure.
More unnumbered tracks dedicated to different tasks (sidings, garage, loading) complete the facilities.
Outside, there is a parking area, cab and city bus stops.
The implementation of the AVE high-speed train between Madrid and Barcelona meant a drastic reduction in the traffic of major lines.
The last to run was the Estrella Costa Brava train suppressed in 2015.
Currently, there is only one daily train to Lleida and another to Barcelona via Caspe, which can take up to 8 hours on this type of route.
Commuter trains traffic was affected to a lesser extent by the arrival of the AVE so that the station still has a good number of trains whose main destinations are Madrid, Zaragoza, Sigüenza, Arcos De Jalón and Soria.
The station is part of the C-2 line of the Cercanías Madrid network.
The C-2 trains with origin or destination Guadalajara come from the C-8 line or continue along it to Cercedilla or El Escorial past Chamartín.
It has CIVIS trains that connect directly with the Madrid-Chamartín station, without passing through Atocha, with the corresponding time savings.
The E1 zone only applies to Cercanías Madrid services and to the VAC-044 bus line operated by ALSA that connects Madrid with Guadalajara, and does not apply to Guadalajara's urban buses.

    Muy chulo el video.¿El tiempo de viaje disminuye al usar los CIVIAS?. Lo digo por que si la S-446, corren a 100 y los Civia a 120...¿alguna mejoría en el tiempo existe?.

    La zona de Guadalajara se encuentra incluida como la E1 dentro de las zonas tarifarias Madrileñas, también por su proximidad al límite entre ambas provincias. Tanto Guadalajara como Azuqueca están en esta zona

    Es una estación abandonada a su suerte.... donde van los impuestos que pagamos si no tenemos tren en un arco de 180 grados de este a oeste por el lado norte de Madrid
