@Fabian Nuñez ya lo sé. Dato curioso: Si eres de un país hispanoamerica y vas a Brasil sin hablar portugués y ellos sin hablar español ten por seguro que te entenderán lo suficiente lo mismo al revés. También me falta saber si en España y Portugal pasa lo mismo. Y saber que idioma (o parte regional) es parecido a el italiano, si el portugués o portugués de Brasil o el español de España o el español de Argentina. Por lo que se tenemos todavía palabras iguales o parecidas de nuestros idiomas español, portugués e italiano.

@@sr.rodriguez8468 Tienes razón. Vivo en Brasil hace más de 10 años y en cuatro meses he aprendido las cosas más básicas. Gran apartado de las palabras son muy semejantes pero también hay palabras del francés o tupí-guaraní. Italiano, a pesar de que me gusta no sabría decir si se parece más al español o portugués, pero diría que el portugués europeo se expresan más parecido al castellano pero los brasileños pronuncian más claro y parecido.

Algunos que usamos sin saber que vienen del euskera son: Alud, angula, aquelarre, bacalao, chabola, chaparro, chistera, chistorra, ganzúa, pacharán, porrusalda, zulo, zurrón. Funny, some time ago I heard a client speaking Spanish, I was so excited. I rarely get to speak my native language and I knew their family surname was a Spanish surname. I walked over to speak to them in Spanish and they tell me they do not speak Spanish, they are Filipino. I was standing there thinking, you were just speaking Spanish or Spanglish. LOL

@@Kirs._14 Filipinos use loanwords, because that is all they know growing up. The average person doesn't learn etymology, so there is really no way around using loanwords, when Filipinos did not learn an alternative. Ask the word dictionary, and either the response will be the English version or the Spanish word Diksyonaryo. It isn't likely Talahuluganan or Talatinigan are going to be used. Even the Spanish creole language Chavacano has English words notably in the language now, which is going to keep on growing.

Most of the people are arguing about how Chileans seems to be the Philippines from South America 😅 As a Chilean myself I agree cause we use words that no other Spanish speaker knows. For example, we have the curse word "wea" that can be used as a noun, verb or adjective, depending on the context. So, some people are saying that we finally have found our opponent! 😂

También ve como se llama, FILIPINAS, en honor al rey Felipe, no en honor a un virrey de Nueva España. Tienes razón con eso de lo tlaxcaltecas, pero recuerda que los tlaxcaltecas eran leales a la corona, no a México. Luego el náhuatl ya estaba castellanizado, solo ve a la gente que habla náhuatl hoy en día, es casi igual a Tagalo, hablan con palabras en español porque no existían en náhuatl. Aparte, te recuerdo que eso del "hispanismo" en Filipinas también es un recuerdo amargo, prácticamente estarías diciendo que Filipinas debería odiar o pedir que México se disculpe. Que ni debería, porque en ese tiempo se seguía llamando Nueva España y no había intentos de independencia, por lo que seguían leales al rey. Te recuerdo que muchas cosas que tiene Filipinas de México fue por el comercio con Nueva España y Peru, no porque Filipinas fuera el virreinato del virreinato. Aunque tmb te doy algo la razón porque este círculo comercial entre estos tres virreinatos era ilegal porque primero tenían que pasar por Sevilla, aunque al final la corona lo termino aceptando. I’m an american-born filipino who grew up hearing my parents speak Tagalog at home. In grade school, I had the shock of my life in spanish class because I was able to understand so many words. I’m still studying spanish, but I do admit it’s way easier for me than the rest of my classmates because I have a Filipino background and knowledge of Tagalog.

For example the word “cheap” (in Italian is economico) I had to translate it in Spanish. Me asusta pensar que en los países hispanohablantes se llegue a un punto en el que la gente no recuerde la traducción en español de las palabras ahora quieren decir en inglés de la nada y sin razón alguna. Sería muy triste que las personas ni siquiera sepan si una palabra está en inglés o en español.

Al final del día el idioma esta para comunicarse esa es su función principal por eso va evolucionando con el tiempo el español que se habla hoy en día no es el mismos que hace 500 años y más en Latinoamérica donde hemos adoptado palabras de los pueblos nativos de acá que las decimos todos los días y no nos damos cuenta

Soy filipino y yo hablo tagalo, inglés y español. He visto algunos comentarios sobre nuestro idioma, y sí, es bastante "raro", pero para mí es único, porque simboliza el resultado de los años de colonización de los españoles y estadounidenses. Claro que hoy en día muchos filipinos ya no se dan cuenta de que están (o estamos) hablando una gran mezcla de tagalo y español porque las palabras españolas son muy fáciles de asimilarse a las nuestras. Incluso la pronunciación y la ortografía son bastante parecidas. Hay muchas cosas más que me gustaría decir, pero creo que este espacio no me bastará 😊 ¡Gracias Asian Boss Español!

España no eliminó ningún lenguaje propio de las tierras en las que estuvo presente. En el caso del tagalo; simplemente se enriqueció de las palabras que ellos no tenían, asimilando las españolas. Cómo los números, útiles para comer ect.. El empeño de los Norteamericanos en que no se hable español en las Filipinas, es lo que da por resultado el estado actual de su lengua.

I once went on an international scounting camp and ome Singaporean scout asked me what exactly language am I saying and I said "Filipino specifically Tagalog" but he said that it's weird that I keep on changing languages when I talk. That was more than 10 years ago and that time I don't yet Know I speak some Espanyol and Ingles between my sentences since that's how we normally talk in The Philippines especially in Manila.

@@CyberPhiliosopher Mis padres saben hablar y entender un poco de español ... incluso mis abuelos y bisabuelos pueden hablar y leer español muy bien. Recuerdo a mis abuelos, incluso mis padres bailan Chacha, Rumba, Tango, Fandango, Lancers, Rigodon, Carinosa y Curacha ... También me gustan las canciones españolas ... mis Gypsy Kings favoritos.

Yup because Filipino language is mixed with tagalog, espanyol, and english. Before, it was only Espanyol and Tagalog. After american-english was introduced to us, majority of us had the chance to learn because we we were treated better under American colonization, the Spain caste system was abolished. The presence of Spanish term can barely be seen or used because of American-english.

@@fh3r3 Jaja es una mezcla de acentos distintos entonces pero realmente aqui la gente no lo notan porque ha sido normalizado. Chavacano es otro dialecto criollo bien influenciado por el idioma español. Aquí se habla en el sur del país en la provincia de Zamboanga.

Yes :) Not that old, but yeah. Maybe he was about 55 or 60 years old at that time, and he explained that the younger generation in his family wasn't interested in learning Spanish, which was sad for him. I've no idea where he was from, but this happened in Manila. And some of my friends that I met there understood at least a few words too. Before going I wasn't expecting ANYONE to speak to me in Spanish. I thought I was only going to see spanish street names and surnames, nothing else. I'm from Latin America, but I was living in Korea at that time, so hearing someone speak to me in my native language was great. I still remember how well spoken he was and the insightful conversation. He told me he was so happy that he got to speak Spanish with me.

I'm Mexican and the last year I went to Toronto and stayed with a filipino family, in the house was also staying a Colombian woman (both spanish speakers) I was 15 and she was 23 so our filipino "parents" called me "chiquita" (because I was the youngest) and and they called her "bonita" and they would also say random words in spanish like some kitchen utensils, such good memories.

A mí me parece genial como combinan los 3 idiomas. Me gustaría algún día viajar a Filipinas, debe ser muy curiosa la comunicación jajaja.

In my opinion, using loan words doesn't necessarily mean the loss of our culture. First of all, there isn't really any "pure" Filipino culture in the first place. Prior to Spanish colonization, there isn't even a "Filipino" identity since our islands are comprised of hundreds of independent ethnic groups. And we already had many language and cultural influences from Malay, Sanskrit, and Chinese. Yet, we incorporated these influences as our own. That's what we just did with Spanish influences, we incorporated parts of their culture and language as our own. Words like "kusina" might be Spanish in origin but we consider them as Filipino now. The concept of an exact "Filipino" culture is quite hard to pin down, since we have so many ethnic groups with their own culture and language, plus we incorporated many foreign influences. So I just think of the general "Filipino culture" as a melting pot of indigenous cultures and foreign influences. Instead of trying to dissect and segregate parts of our culture which are foreign or local, why not just enrich what we have now, and at the same time honor and educate ourselves on what we have lost.

Of course, there are assimilation and dissimilation of words. If one is useful, use it, if not, then don't (and eventually forgotten. This also applies to mother tongue ( vernaculars). Eventually, some dialects were going to be forgotten because it is useless (in a sense that it is no longer useful or no one uses it).

@Lucs Deponti only the foreigners, I guess 😅 we no longer identify ourselves as a colony/province (whatever) of Spain. we just took parts of the language and made it our own, along with English, Náhuatl, etc. (espero que te entiendo bien)

those spanish loanwords are not another language, they are all officially part of the Filipino language. they are all speaking Filipino (aka. Modern Tagalog). speaking pure tagalog is just linguistic purism. this is like saying one should speak english, minus all the norman french, latin, and greek influences.

I agree, loanwords happen to all languages that interact with other languages. Asking someone to speak "pure" languages is like asking them to revert back to our single-celled ancestors' time.

@@azure9729 some of them are also aztec nahuatl loanwords, but we have many cases like this of loanwords being loanwords themselves of other languages. some malay loanwords are actually indian sanskrit or arabic or indian tamil or persian or javanese loanwords

@@emman6527 pure tagalog means the tagalog spoken before colonisation, as well as the derivatives of pre-colonial rootwords. In other words, tagalog without the spanish or american linguistic influence. This definition might not be etymologically consistent, but that's what most Tagalog speakers mean when they say "pure Tagalog". A less strict version is "deep Tagalog".

Cuando mis abuelos estaban vivos y decían "ese muchacho es muy chabacano para hablar" se referían a que alguien no era de "buen verbo", para mí ya de adulto fue una gran sorpresa enterarme que el chabacano sí es un idioma!!!

@@christophercano4809 tomaste mal el dato, fijate el dato del 10% de hispanohablantes fue tomado del censo estadounidense que se hizo en 1903 donde se registró que eran 7 millones de filipinos a esa fecha. censo que se hizo despues de la guerra filipino-estad0unidense, evento donde se estima que murier0n un millon de filipinos por la guerra, la epidemia de colera que se dio y la hambruna. por eso el mismo intituto cervantes dice que en una fecha antes de que se diera la guerra en 1898 se estima que habia de 15% a 20% de poblacion de filipinos hispanohablantes. busca el documento que el mismo instituto sacó.

No solo tienen incorporadas palabras en español sinó que además los apellidos de sus descendientes son españoles. Años atrás necesitaba concurrir a ver un Dr. y busqué en las páginas telefónicas y decidí uno de mí lengua Dr Morales, me sorprendió cuando le conocí, pues era Filipino. Fue' mi GP por 10 años.🤣👌👍

Escuche un audio de una señora filipina de la época cuando Filipinas estaba bajo ocupación estadounidense , y su acento era muy parecido al de Perú o México, la verdad me sorprendió bastante ya que era un acento muy diferente al actual que tienen . Por cierto en mi país la palabra "chavacano" significa ordinario o grosero ,pero lo digo sin ofender ,cada país incluso los hispanos tenemos diferentes formas de referirnos a algunas palabras ,ademas si ustedes hablaran español ,ya nos estaríamos peleando como pasa con los latinos y los españoles xD
