Just watched Unstoppable, so I've been looking up videos about CSX 8888.
The crazy 8 is unstoppable
I thought the engineer set the throttle to notch 8 by mistake thinking he was setting the independent brake - and that was how the train was able to get away from him.
That's a great coincidence 8888 all same numbers
A legend comes back
If I'm not mistaking I think the movie Unstoppable with Denzel Washington was based on that.

Unit 8392 saved the day. 🚂🚂😎👍 The only thing that got derailed that day was crazy 8s' engineer's career. 😂

He was not fired he was given a 60 suspension
You gotta be a great aimer to shoot the fuel safety shut off switch since it's right near the fuel tank, especially when the train is traveling at a fast speed.
Hopefully when 8888 gets retired she gets preserved.

Where is CSX 8888 now? Do they still run it?
The cop was dumb lol its buckshot rounds of course your not gonna hit a tiny button
he could have easily just gotten on the back (rear) of the locomotive and just walked to the cab.

Why would you even leave a train at Notch 8? Basically its max throttle lol

Where did you find that? I can’t find anything about the engineer getting a 60 day suspension.
Why would he be fired he was just trying to change the switch? And made a mistake

You can’t just leave the train when it’s moving with the cab unoccupied.
