The Higher Education Commission(HEC) of Pakistan has announced a universal GPA system for Pakistani graduates, according to which a 2.5 GPA is equal to 60 percent or first division. Thus, a student who secures 59 percent will still be awarded a 2.3 GPA, which means he has a second division.
I have heard that if one wants to go to FSP group, one must have opted for IR in optionals? How true is it?

Not necessary but preferred! As, the interview panel will be ready to grill you if your optional subjects do not reasonate with your preferred groups. Imagine, a student opting for punjabi and mathematics subjects, and his ambitions for going in FSP are contrary to eachother. Thus, the interview panel will present lower score to that candidate to censure his allocation to his preferred group (FSP).

Not necessary , you can become FSP officer by opting Pol sci too.

Work for CSS part time along with your job..when you prepared fully then take a break from job. Css is a long and hardous journey, so make yourself prepare gradually

around 3k USD plus housing in posh area, traveling and food allowance is separate.

Current salary in Pakistan is same as other BS-17 officer, i.e. Rs. 38,114/- gross and Rs. 34,945/- take home (if you don't avail hiring of residence, which if taken makes it Rs. 30,579/-)
