I followed the exact same process to get ERASMUS scholarship. I wish I had more researh exposure like you, during my undergrad. Great Video.❤❤❤
Thanks for sharing. I hope I could have know and plan as you did when I applied, I realize why it was hard for me to get in even one program though I was lucky. Didn’t get in eecs but now a course 1 phd, maybe can meet you one day. Ps the sop link is super helpful

Thank for the video! helpful
So nice, very cool
Thank you 😊
you are so wholesome
Eugenie - Great video. Can you also share your research experience and what is the process? And is a Master's Thesis/PHD research difficult
It's a wonderful video and it will be better if you answer the questions on the comments
Thank you.
Hi Eugene, While applying, did you have any publications? I have no publication but a submitted paper under review, 3 solid LORs and above average academic record. But I am concerned about having no publication.
Thanks for sharing! (btw you are so beatifull and cute~
As a graduated master's student seeking for PhD opportunities, I cannot appreciate your share more.
Thank you Eugine, for your wonderful video. I have a little question, were your letters of recommendation only from academics and researchers? or were some of them from people outside academia (like jobs)?
great
Eugenie: "I am still the biggest introvert I know". Me: Still afraid to go out, due to the potential of interacting with people. :P. Love the video.
Please share some cold emailing tips
Thank you so much for making this! I recently emailed a professor and I have gotten no replies and it has demotivated me a tiny bit. I think I'm gonna use this to make myself better and try again with a different professor because I don't wanna give up Wish me luck!

@Hilal Ahmad Thaaanks!
What was ur gpa to apply into grad school?
Hi Eugenie, I am also in UBC and in a similar boat (undergrad eyeing a PHD economics). Do you recommend getting into graduate courses? I know they restrict those courses if your not a graduate student. Also, I noticed you have never taken higher level math courses, more specifically math 320. Did that ever come up in your interviews for PHD? Any thoughts on it?

Hi William! Great point! I think it depends on the field. In my field (i.e., CS systems), most of us don't usually use higher level math at work. That's why I didn't take 300+ level math. But from my impression, econ research can be heavy on math and stats. Have you talked to some professors about this?

@@beingeugenie I have and they did recommend higher math. But of course at the end of the day, research experience is probably more important. Anyways, Thank you for the inspiring videos. It motivated me to apply to a similar mentorship program for PHD Economics by MIT/Harvard. I am not sure what exactly they are looking for but hopefully they accept me. looking forward to more of your videos!

@@wiliam7670 hey William, I don’t know if you’ll see this but I am also applying for a PhD in economics too! We should connect!
Do you need to pay for a PhD in USA? Here in Belgium, you get paid to do it
Wow I applied twice for a master at W but I didn't got to secure a scholarship funding but now I'm applying for PhD at UBC

Thank you so much for your reply. But also I want to ask about the reference letters for many universities' applications. For example, suppose I ask a professor to give me a reference letter for a university. In that case, I don't know if I can use that same reference for another university since the reference letters are specifically addressed to each university. How do you manage with the reference letters to apply to many universities?
Eugine please make a video on Mathematics.
I get it. If you pick the correct college sweater you can save money on AC and look good in movies. Also, science stuff.
Thank you for this video. Is there any CV format for Ph.D. applicants without research experience?
