I'll admit, I mainly bought this because Astro Boy was in it but it is a legit good game with or without him.

This is why the reason why I bought a Switch. I was sad that the iOS puzzle fighter was shutdown. This will be the closest thing to it. I’ll be getting this and the PS4 version.

Is it easy to get into matchmaking matches on the Switch?

At first I was only gonna get this because it contained Cave Story content (like the story being based around Cave Story's Red Crystal), but then I discovered the killer OST and combat, and holy hell this looks like a truly epic game.

I said “inspired by” which they both are, but I never played puzzle fighter, my hard college years I specifically blocked out gaming to focus on school so I missed a few. Although I can’t say I’d have played that at the time anyway, was much more focus on shooters at the time

Honestly, if people don’t like the game itself, you can’t deny the trailer is lit. Great review!

35 years later and Nintendo still giving us “the Nintendo thumb”, compliments of the D-pad +. On a side-note, today’s tongue twister is block breaking blast, courtesy of the Flannel Fox.

Great review Tim! I also like the music I’ve heard from this game. I hear your concerns about performance and battery drain. Hope they try to address those issues via those issue via patches, if possible. As for one of the control issues you mentioned, I would hope they’d give the player the option to disable fast-drop (un-bund to “up” directional). From a design standpoint, I don’t understand why they wouldn’t offer the option.

Me too! Had someone reach out as soon as my review went live and I very happily let them know that is has color blind mode

didn't know this game was actually Puzze Fighter, which i Love!

Was thinking of getting this game just because Isaac was in it, BOI is my fav game.

This is animated and modeled like a cheap cash grab mobile game. Sure puzzle fighter is fun but you gotta draw the line somewhere and say “hey I’m gonna need you to actually make a game if you want my money and not just put fan fav characters on a cheap to make puzzle game to try and cashgrab”

Playing this dock with the pro controller is terrible as the d-pad will register an up command press when tapping left or right. I’ve even notice that playing Tetris also. The best d-pad I’ve used are the powerA controllers which don’t have that issue. The joy cons are good but are tiny and uncomfortable.

I’ve tried several Pro Controllers and it’s the same thing. There’s been reports of this happening with them.

the fact that they included quote from cave story kinda surprises me...

I have a game similar to this but MK on me DS. Chibi style characters too.

i was interested because it felt like puyo puyo but some of gamings memorable characters instead

2:46 should've shown a load time; they're dealbreakers like warborn 70 seconds just to get to title screen, or incredibles takes 2 mins to load a level on switch. I played super puzzle fighter 2 turbo which is faster, so I'll pass.

BLOCKS? I prefer the shiny, pulsing gems in the original on GBA. They truely feel like glass gems. This game has plain, solid colored blocks. Meh…
