This song marked my adolescence, the world was huge and unknown to me, I was an antisocial girl who finally managed to connect with a group where I felt happy, a family. Years passed, everything faded, everyone took their course, life has not been a great thing, I ended up in a mental hospital and once I got out of there I was alone again and in the middle of a global pandemic, it has been sad and strange, it was very symbolic that even the original song had disappeared from youtube, nothing is forever, so listening to this new version, so different, but so close, like a logical continuation, is a beautiful thing, it motivates me to move forward, let go of what no longer exists, embrace it that remains, continue building life, thank you.

That's a lot of what I think about when I work on my music, actually. I started getting more serious about my music when I was going through a period of great loss, and had to rebuild my life from the ground up. But that challenge forced me to grow, causing me to meet a lot of interesting people and experience things I never even imagined. I'm currently working on a project with other artists that kind of embodies that idea - about self discovery, finding beauty in the ruins, learning to heal and thrive in ways you never expected. That's part of why I was drawn to this track to being with - it's ethereal and dreamy, and I wanted to add momentum to it.

Since the original song got deleted a while back. I just wanna express how much this song means to me and how this remix really makes all of my memories flash to beat. Way back in 2018 my crush best friend at that time showed me this song (the original) and since she was my crush I listened most of the songs she showed me on repeat, This one marked everything, this song became my favourites and I started listening more of crystal castles until CC became one of my all time favourites bands. My crush and I became a couple and this song was really special as it became like our “theme song” at least I see it that way and well it really reminded me of her, we didn’t worked as a couple and all our friendship and closeness we had gone away. Now every time I listen to this song I try and remember most of the times I had with her and how much this song reminds me of her. I just really wish I could turn back time and fix my mistakes, I had never felt the same way since to somebody else. She will forever be in a special place in my heart

I don't know who you are PLvSH, but I'm so happy to find and listen to really good remix's, like this one with "Kept". Why has this particular song, in particular, drilled and stayed with us in our minds? Personally, I don't understand the phenomenology myself, except -- It just does. This even sounds fantastic when slowed... !!! Sometimes, the remixed versions don't always get taken down. The KZread "IA", makes sure that exact copies are automatically flagged and dealt with; therefore, I'm sure your relatively safe. "Sub Pop" now own the copyrights for "Kept" and they've been removing exact copies of "Kept" already, if they haven't taken you down by now, then you're safe.

The voice sample was already special to begin with, but I did chop/loop it up even more, sometimes using Ableton's "chopping block" to create that glitchy effect. I borrowed that idea from Japanese EDM :)
