Ren is a flippin wordsmith. Literally millions of people have struggled with how to articulate depression and other mental illnesses for decades if not centuries. With a handful of small, simple words, Ren nails it as well as anything I have ever seen or heard. "I'm still here in this bed that I crawled in I hope that I'm someone else in the morning."

Finding Ren has been the highlight for me in 2023 and I can't see how it will be bettered.

Ren said in his interview with Knox this past monday (may 15th 2023) that he missed his friend Joe by 2 minutes...They never found Joe's body after searching around 10 days...Than he had another friend pass away a few months later...😢

I have never seen someone put in the exact explanation of what they were feeling in a moment with just a single look on their face! I just wanted to hug you bc that song connected to something deep with you and it was heartbreaking and so beautiful at the same time! Heartbreaking to know you relate what they’re saying but beautiful bc music! A single song can mean so many different things for so many different reasons for so many different people and then brings all those different people together to see how we aren’t so different from one another! Thanks for making my eyes sweat at 6am! LoL

yep its so hard to feel ok cause something always goes wrong. Latest one was being blinded by the sun and getting into a motorcycle accident. Counting my blessings cus it could have been worse but partly crushed vertibre bunch of other damaged ones, rib, shattered both bones in left arm, broken pelvis, and hyper extended nerves in my shoulder. Part that truly sucks is that i work on a roof or in an attic all day. just being so physically weak when i was so strong just sucks

This just hits me in the feels so hard every time I listen to it. This just hits so close to home for me. Thank you for reacting. I so agree that this is something that needs to be talked about so much more than it is!

I agree with your message about mental illness. Good reaction. Btw Ren has made me a 50 year old tear up a few times while listening to his songs. I have suffered with Social Anxiety really bad my entire life. Some days are just so damn hard.

Lovely reaction to a lovely song… I highly recommend the Ren & Chinchilla song How To Be Me (live) version… it’s another very deep song dedicated to his very good friend who sadly took his own life and the live version is performed on the bridge where he did it! ❤

I do agree on your recommendation, it is a really emotional and beautiful song, but it is not performed on the bridge were Rens friend took his life. I believe they recorded this on a rooftop in Brighton.

I saw that clip from CNN and it was the part of Hi Ren when he says you got to kill you if you want to kill me. They played that three second clip and try to say that the song was about suicide. They made a statement afterwards but it wasn't exactly an apology. It's possibly the best song ever

CNN do understand the context but nefariously hijacked the snippet to push a distorted agenda that serves their purposes… it’s an insult to real victims to bastardise the original intent of the song 😢

Here's a thought... something to consider. In the artistry of the video, is she really there? The lights flicker which Ren has used before to represent the supernatural. Also, she isn't there when the camera pans by the first time. It's she an angel? A former patient that has come back?

You are a sensitive, intelligent woman. Don’t apologize for your tears. They are expressions of your genuine humanity. And, yes, of course this song got to me as I’m sure it got to most people who have listened to it. Losing feelings because of anti-depressants is its own special breed of suffering and you do feel like the walking dead (thus the chalk outline around your ‘dead’ self). And you are right, what he writes has probably saved lives. He one of the most important and gifted artists I’ve seen in a LONG time. Thank you for reacting to him. More REN please.

Love the reaction. I am so happy I started watching reactions to music in particular. Witnessing the emotion music stirs up in people is fascinating ( sounds like a psych essay) but it is refreshing to see people being moved by music. "Sertraline and a sip of seratonin"... THAT line, makes me feel sick to my core. That's exactly what it's like. I miss one day of sertraline and I'm on a manic hyper spiral down.. and the amount of living f*cks, disappears out the window along with the will to live. Luckily I have a brilliant couple of support workers who I appreciate more than most on this planet. Very aware of how fortunate I am in that respect.

Do you really think that was appropriate?? For one, this is obviously a channel that is an advocate for all things relating to dealing with mental health, the details of his friends unfortunate death were not necessary, and if they were, it's polite to offer a trigger warning. Secondly, the fact the song was written because of that subject is ok to reveal via a trigger warning, but again, the details are a spoiler to the entire song since it's revealed at the end. Not trying to be a dick, nor am I saying you did anything intentionally mean, just a heads up to take a second to review/reflect before hitting "reply" ✌️

As amazing as this this song is, wait til ya see "How To Be Me" you're gonna want to do the live version if you liked this song, it leveled me though, and trigger warning, Ren wrote it, not really about, but due to a friend that lost their battle with their demons, so to speak. You are only the second reactor I've seen, which has been a bunch, understand the line "I'm scared of being ok" the same as I understood it" Boy does that line hit deeeeeep for me. I truly admire your wanting to have a positive outlook, and encouraging others through positive affirmations, you should keep doing so, but you can't possibly know those things to be universal for all people. I'm not playing who's trauma is worse, or trying to diminish yours or anyone's personal struggle, no matter how bad it is for one person, doesn't make what another went through or is going through any less earth shattering in their mind. I am insignificant, I DO NOT matter, I am NOT important, I AM in my own head, and my head exists in reality, if I died the second I stopped typing this 99.9999% of the people on this planet wouldn't blink an eye or lose a second of sleep, and the people I matter to, is so god damn infinitely small and minute in the grand scheme of things, that logic insists that I'm insignificant. And I've had a decent run, and was a care giver for my community for many years, and had an average circle of friends, some are not even that fortunate. I do think we can make a difference in other people's lives, I do think we, as humans, can help others live a better more fruitful life, personally and by setting an example for others to see. I've lived my life by three simple rules....1 Never kick down, instead offer a hand up. 2. If you have the means and/or ability to help, then you have the responsibility to do so. 3. It's not that F-ing difficult to just be kind to other people, even when it is, it's still the path of least resistance. I don't regret living by that mantra, and there were times I failed to do so, but overall it's served me well, but sometimes life just goes sideways, and there's no finding your way back to the path you once enjoyed walking. I wish that weren't the case. Don't let my debbie downer attitude stop you from trying to prove me wrong, or advocating for a positive outlook and mental health in general. In my former life, reading people quickly was essential to my job, and I could tell immediately that you have a beautiful soul, and a determined spirit that will fight for good with everything ya got, please don't let life take that from you, as it did from me. ✌️💚
