Which is probably why he became their libero. A good all-around player, just not tall enough to be a competitive hitter at a high-level. It was smart of him to change positions and develop his skills, since he's now libero for the best university team in the country.

Can anyone tell me what their libero is wearing? I play league volleyball and I wear long socks, then knee pads and I tuck my warmup pants into all of that. Is that what he has on? 0:51

The net prolly isnt low, but it does noticeably lag in the middle.

Their libero could also play power, he did play as power for a little bit during Provincials and starter #2 went to libero. Their whole team is pretty versatile : )

like seriously what are volleyball nets made out of to withstand the power that those guys have hit into!??!?!!

I'm not saying it's low, im saying it's not tight enough. Look at the bottom of the net when the ball touches the net, there's no way you could ever dig a ball out of that.

Wrong. That big lefty is like 6'9", so if the net was low he'd be getting pits over every time.

i don't know whats funnier, the fact that the ball hits the net more than usual for a team on a low height (which it clearly is since it smiley faces and is lower than the top of the pole- the true measure of the height) or the fact that a kid who is 6'9" can't get his armpits over the net every time. they're a strong hitting team but to claim themselves as best in north america they should have a higher contact point on the ball

The net height is measured from the middle of the court first and allowed to be 2 cm's off at each side. If the net does in fact sag at all the outsides of the net would be higher than 2.43m if anything. The fact that people think that the net height isn't measured at a National Championship is laughable. They didn't just claim to be the best team in North America they were, no one beat them. Their contact points are all fine from their starters. The camera angle is also from someone sitting in a chair giving the perception that they're not as high as they actually are.

i guess its just done differently where I've played. the way I've always seen it is that the net has to be level all the way across and the top lines up with the top of the pole. we still use beads to measure but it always lines up if following this principle. having been to both nationals in Minneapolis and the new york state tournament I've never played on a net that sags as much as this. and you do realize that since the camera is angled upwards since it is lower the the floor it gives the false impression that the players are jumping higher than they actually are but nevertheless it doesn't change how high they are jumping and the fact that the ball hits the net as much as it does is jocular

ruckus1713 I'm not saying the net doesn't sag. I just know that its up to specifications. They either measure it will a chain or a pole. The camera gives them the impression they're jumping higher off the ground but in relation to the net their heads appear lower than they actually are since they're hitting on the far side of the net. They're 18U kids looking for a bounce they don't care if they hit the tape once in a while.

NAVC is not the best 18u team they lost in the final in front of there own home crowd. Winmans middles are way smaller than NAVCs it was Winmans dominating outsides that did it for them, NAVCs outsides are useless.

Its funny how American u18 team hits like my highscools average players... Like i guess i would be the lead player in your squad :) :D Yet i hope they compensate the lack of power and height with the defence :)

Not very impressive. He barely clears his head over the tape. As for the bounce, sounds more like a fist or side of the hand/thumb.
