Twenty years ago I felt good, I was cruising ! Everyone seemed equal at the MDR table, Drs, lawyers, indian chiefs , we all sat together and felt like Kings of the World. Now they are creating a rift between those that took out a loan to cruise and those who can afford to be "Special" who can distance themselves from the riffraff in private areas where "Steerage " peons won't disturb them. It's a caste system and even on a cruise , sanctuary $$ separates us and divides us. Touting the differences as an improvement isn't helping.

Still selling Princess…..Don, there are many other cruise lines we might like to hear about now and again.

Went on princess cruise to Alaska 2years ago, ship had engine problems the whole time, missed ports and excursions. Ship shook the whole time. They did offer us 50% off a cruise booked within the next year, however they continued to have engine issues so we declined.

We just got off the Radiance of the Sea. We did the Panama Canal. Started in Tampa and ended in Los Angeles. It was our favorite cruise with Royal. We're diamond members. We had no problems. I'm so glad we ended in Los Angeles. I'm so sorry for those who stayed on, I think 111 people remained on to continue to Alaska. Plus, those that boarded in Los Angeles . Just want to say how great the staff is.

Yes we did, Ship was chugging along fine at 22knts just 6 days ago. Did B3B and almost stayed on for the 4nite, was cheap!

In all of our 35 years of cruising , we never what a propulsion was/is- and never ever were cancelled for one!!!

I was on a cruise in 2016 (although it was NCL) and we had ports cancelled due to propulsion issues back then.

While it may be disappointing for passengers to miss Labadee, the true victims are the innocent residents who have lost all feeling of safety along with their source of income.

Don, I know you are a Princess cruiser. Been there..done that. We switched years ago to Holland America and have made that our only cruise ships..we are now booked on our 20th cruise with them. Their 4 star Mariner status is much better than Princess.

We sailed Princess for the first time in March and found the food so much better than RC, which we’ve sailed over 20 times. Plus the crew was so much more relaxed and friendly than RC. It’s a great cruise line in our opinion.

Sanctuary class, hmm, we got a email from Princess saying “you’ve been upgraded to Sanctuary class” got all excited, except they “made a mistake”probably going to cancel now cause they won’t honor their “mistake” and I didn’t think the mistake/let down was very funny

Old ships are like old cars. With proper maintenance and care they will last a very long time. We are curious about that new area princess is offering. Gonna have to ask our TA about that.

Also the Azipod's dont hold up as well/long as Shaft driven though they really dont break down like were 15-20yrs ago

Talk about a disappointment. We hopped on in Los Angeles hoping to see a little of Oregon and then our main attraction was Victoria Canada. Propulsion problem began on the 2nd day when the captain told us that we had to sail slowly and would not be stopping anywhere but going straight to Vancouver where our cruise ended and we took a flight back home. So sad

I did Alaska on the Royal Princes in 2022.

Don. Neu Amesterdam too skipping Skagway next week for technical issues. I was looking forward to take the train excursion.😢

I was on the Radiance when propulsion issues occurred. We missed stops but for us we already went to Victoria so no loss for us. Update is the propulsion issue still exists and won’t leave till Sunday the 28th. Another issue is i reported on Day 1 a continuous knocking sound. Multiple crew members came to the cabin and verified the knocking but no solution. In Day 4, lady at bar was complaining to the crew about the pool water being ice cold for multiple days. In days the pool was heated, we didn’t hear the knocking. Coincidence? Well crews began to repair the pipes above our room and knocking stopped. Frustrating cuz i had 3 sleepless nights

Sure hope it doesn't get cancelled. A true downer for a vacation. Personally I dont go north for cruising, due to joint issues have to stay in warmer areas and I'm from the midwest -lol.

We'll be on the Radiance next September for an Alaskan cruise.

There seem to be more occurrences of cruise ships with maintenance / reliability issues. Time to use the profits to keep the ships afloat.

The Alaska season is short enough as is

I was supposed to go on Radiance last year when it broke down then. I think they might need to put her in dry dock and do an overhaul on the engine. To have 2 mechanical problems in half a year isn't good. At the same time they could update and clean her up. I was on her the year before as well and it is a great ship, but it just needed some overhaul on it. Some wall papers were falling down, lots of stains here and there. That kind of stuff. Other then that, she is a great ship that I'd love to tour Alaska again on.

I would be upset to miss Alaskan ports. I usually do back to back so I’d be unhappy with it.

I was on The Royal Princess in 2022, and we couldn't dock in Skagway due to a landslide that demolished the pier. 😢

Allure had same issues several years ago and had to miss an island. Once it dry docked, it all got fixed.

My wife and me are scheduled for the May 1st sailing on radiance of the see no news yet about it being canceled

Not sure about missing some ports or cancelling a cruise or two to get fixed.

We are supposed to go to Labadee in early June and we got rerouted to CoCo Cay.

Radiance- we took it way back 2010 and so beautiful and cozy then. Hope it gets fixed.

The question continues about whether they are skimping on maintenance as part of the cost saving cutbacks.

We were on the Radiance of the Seas for its second ever Alaska cruise years ago. We even went the next year on the same vessel. Wonderful ship. Hope they get all squared-away and ship-shape to prevent more break-downs in those waters. Great ship in our opinion.

Wow I can remember when every one on board a cruise ship had a class trip now we have to pay extra for the nice trip😢

You were talking about the new sanctuary area of Princess cruise ship. We are booked on the star Princess next November 2025. We had a reserve collection mini suite. Princess just upgraded us to the new sanctuary suite at no additional cost!

@redhatbear1135 From my experience, very few announcements are broadcast into the cabins except for emergencies. I have been told by the crew that cabin announcements are not made in order to avoid disturbing the guests who might be napping.

@@aussiejohn5835 That’s what we e seen. What frustrated my hubby was on disembarkation day they were looking for passengers but not paging the rooms. And since at that point even B2Bers have to get off temporarily it made no sense to not broadcast in the cabins. There were a few other times where since everyone was supposed to be participating that there still were not broadcast in the room. The excuse that we don’t want to disturb people when if they are still in their room they need to be disturbed is baffling! This is mostly on ships who do not put the announcements on a television channel.

Since Labadee hires some locals, it’s sad to see those people lose their income but that’s normal for any highly volatile area.

Monica Faulkner did I'd again. MAny travelers stranded in Costa Rica this time because of lack of payment and apparently another group headed to Aruba is also out thousands of dollars and all booked with the same agent that left the cruisers at the port!!!

My idea of Sanctuary is NEVER sailing Princess again. They couldn’t pay me to put up with the lousy service and unclean ships.

They run these cruise ships over and over to make money. They need to service these ships more often. It is sad, that the ships cannot go to Labadee. The folks that make a living, with the ships coming there are suffering. Praying for them.

Sorry for Haiti, but important to keep cruisers safe by not going there.
