That is kind of what we figured. It is our first time with Princess and we have heard good things so we’ll definitely give it another try.

Jason is too over critical of the food. Just because it isnt to your taste doesnt mean its bad. 25 cruises on Princess and never had a bad or underwhelming meal.

I did note that he disclosed that he is from Louisiana; and that they heavily spice their food there. I’m sure that he understands cruise ships need to accommodate all tastes. Good thing that the ships offer a wide array of condiments for those that need more heat, more salt, or more of whatever floats their proverbial boat. And like you, I have never had a bad or underwhelming meal on a princess cruise ship!

@@anhvu-yp9vs you’re on a cruise ship with literally thousands of guests. Do you expect them to cater to you specifically? That doesn’t seem fair, does it? They truly do their very best to accommodate all patrons. If the food isn’t spiced enough for you, use wide assortment of available condiments that they offer. If you’re unable find something that you like on a cruise ship, you should not be cruising. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I just returned from my first ever cruise in my life. We were on the new Discovery Princess Mexico 7 day cruise. There are so many ways to eat, and lots of variety. I do agree that many of the dishes are less salty/spicy and sometimes even bland. But it's also obvious that there are so many people of different ages and tastes. Makes sense they would land on that side and allow people to add their own spices to their taste. You can't take it out. I may be a newbie but I was very satisfied with the food overall. Great pizza.. 🤙🏻

Never trust a pizza review from someone who eats pizza with fruit on it. 🤣

My husband loved the pizza on princess. He had it four time in 7 days! We will be on celebrity and princess in the fall. He will be a happy man with the pizzas on both ships!

I think it would only be fair to try a more established Princess ship, and I haven't sailed with them yet. Jason even mentioned that was the first sailing for that ship. Your experience will probably be different on another ship. Besides, as cruisers we all know how that can be true for any cruise line. The experience can vary from one ship to another. Keep bringing us good content. I always enjoy watching!

I was told the food on Princess is elevated by everyone as well. Glad to see you guys experience it!

I was so sorry to hear that the food didn’t meet your expectations. I do think you should sail Princess again. I’ve been on 37 cruises and the last 24 have been on Princess and it’s mainly because their food is leaps and bounds better than Carnival, Celebrity and Norwegian. I’ve never sailed on Royal. I was happy to hear you enjoyed the eggplant pasta dish in Gigi’s. It’s my absolute favorite Princess dish of all time. Did you do Tea Time? That’s a very lovely experience. Did you try the pizza on Lido? That is my favorite Princess pizza. Also, at the grill on Lido, you need to try one of their hot dogs……oh my, they grill a delicious all beef hot dog.

I think you need to try it again. Go on a longer cruise. I don’t know what you expected on being a first passengers for two days. I have always found the food on Princess outstanding!!! I love the regal princess you should try that one it’s outstanding and a medallion class you can’t beat it

I agree. I have had nothing but excellent food with Princess.

Pizza, like everything else is so subjective! You guys were lukewarm about the pizza in Gigi's Pizzeria, but I can tell you from past experience that I love love love the pizza from the poolside grill. I'm originally from New York, and I have an extreme bias towards New York pizza. IMO, the pizza they have on Princess is by far better than any other cruise line I've sailed.

The French onion soup and the cream brûlée got me.😍😋😛

Man, Jason just came into this cruise determined to hate everything. Once he had that crawdad, he decided everything was horrible.

I liked the food on the buffet. I had Mongolian Stir Fry and it was delicious. I liked the breakfast on the buffet. My husband ate so many times at the international cafe that he was on a first name basis with two servers there by the second day. We had the Trident Grill on Regal Princess and I was underwhelmed with the burgers

OMG. Finally someone on a industry promo cruise giving an honest verdict. Props for that. It’s so expected when you see an influx of certain ship on KZread and you just expect more hype to get more free cruises. Love you guys!

I like Princess food ok, but my favorite is Holland America. But I think it all depends on what you like. I do like how Princess is very friendly for gluten free.

Exactly they have to accommodate for alot of people so season on food ( add your own salt & pepper) if its not to your taste .

I think princess has the best fettuccine alfredo i have ever had. I asked for grilled chicken to be added and loved every bite. I then asked for seconds

I recently did an Enchanted Princess immediately followed by Emerald Princess. Was disappointed in the Enchanted food and service but the ship itself and activities were awesome. The older Emerald Princess had better food and service as well as awesome activities. Mostly the same menus in both ships MDR but again quality and service better in the older ship. I have always enjoyed Alfredo's (now GiGis) pizza but now must try their pasta on my Discovery cruise to Alaska in July.

Love International Cafe on Princess ships. My first stop after boarding (after a Gin & Tonic or two!). Was open 24 hours on previous cruises. No new Princess cruises scheduled (yet!).

Great video. I can't really compare different ship buffets cause I've only been on carnival twice, but I have had land based buffets that have been a hit and miss too.

I know I’m 5 months late on this but the pizza you get by the slice near the pool area is the pizza that wins the awards.

the creamy eggs are very european,, thats how everybody eats them in europe,, they really arent runny they just have lots of cream and butter ,,, yum

You guys are basing opinion on a 2 day first sailing of a new ship. Get on a fully functioning ship( The Royal, The Regal, or The Caribbean Princess), for a proper review. I wouldn't have eaten those crawfish as well. No way you get fresh, they'd have to be flown in fresh, and served the first day.

Chuck here- I could almost taste that pasta through the screen. Love your honest review of the food and experience on this ship. Not all cruise food is created equal…Top notch video editing! Love the lighting ,depth of field and audio quality. Technical questions, if you don’t mind answering…what camera/lens/ audio setup were you using in this video? Also, how do you manage to not get a copyright claim or strike from including the music played by the onboard tribute band? Does that only apply if it’s from the original artist? Thanks in advance.

Jason, you are my 'foodie' measuring stick. I've watched your vlogs on preparing/cooking a brisket and also on crawfish. We live in Vancouver, Canada and have never seen crawfish until we visited Louisiana. With that being said, we're on the Celebrity Silhouette for 19 days in May so Pizza is definitely on the menu. Love all of your videos!

I'd have been thrilled if I got the quality of food that princess is putting out.. MSC has to be the worst in the industry post-pandemic or maybe even pre from the looks of some of the older reviews.. Discovery Looks like a beautiful ship , with a beautiful destination what's to complain about??

Thanks for sharing! We just got off a 15-day cruise to Hawaii on one of their oldest ships the Grand Princess. My husband said I was being too critical about the food however this was our 9th cruise with them and definitely something was missing from the food as far as the MDR and definitely the buffet. We were able to totally enjoy the Crown Grill Steakhouse and Sabatini's Italian restaurant. These did have a small up charge but worth every $$ IMHO. So, I gave the MDR and buffet a 7 and the Alfredo's pizza and the IC a 9. What I did not like was the hotdog / hamburger place ~ partially my fault because I did not say well done but the hamburger patty was not cooked completely with alot of pink, and I could not eat pass a bite. Something is going on with Princesses menus and suppliers that is for sure. JMHO :)

Lol I could not have put that crawfish🦞 in my mouth. You were braver than me. Only place to go out and eat them is in Louisiana. Now I will fix them at home if I get some fresh ones. But you got to have the boil to cook them you know that. California has no idea how to cook those.

Funny that you enjoyed the dry and cold cinnamon role. We did not have the icing on ours in May. The pound cake was also very dry and lacked flavor. Maybe they were leftover in May from your cruise in April. We did not like the food. Pizza, they would not even make us veggie pizzas.

Great content, any video that start off with Pizza is good in my book. I would rag on you for the pineapple on pizza but the rest of your food choices made up for it. The main dining room options looked insane... really need to try princess.

The tacos are the best food at the pool grill, way better than the burgers! But Jason is right overall the food is not amazing I think it is just average. I have been on Sky and Discovery this year. And I have not been blown away by the food.

I agree with Jason on the food on Princess. Our first cruise was in 2016 on Princess Alaskan cruise. I was not impressed with the food. Buffet was horrible.

Jason I would really like to cruise with you guys. I cruise out of Galveston on my next 3 cruises. I'm on the Breeze the 28th of May. I'm on the Dream on September the 4th, and in April of 2023.

we've had 2 Princess cruises and found the food to be ok, but not astounding. Being from the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, restaurants here vie for space and we are spoiled. We don't cruise for the food and I usually lose a bit of weight.

The pasta looked good but it also looked liked heart burn waiting to happen and ewwww crawfish bottom dwellers even worse when rubbery. I didn’t know CA had a big supply 😂 I don’t think we do. When I cruise I only eat at the buffet like the last day. I like the dining room :)

Thanks for your honest opinion, i wonder if its just because the ship is so new that the food isnt at its best yet? I dont think i would go for princess. Now 3 weeks away from our second cruise. We will go on Mein schiff. 99% germans, so i worry a bit if my German is good enough. But then, life is an adventure ;) i am aiming for a celebrity cruise after that, the epic class ships look very nice.

I just got off a 7 day California Coast cruise on an older Princess ship. I was so disappointed by the food. The ship sailed at full capacity, but they didn’t open the main buffet area. Buffet food was presented well, but lacked flavor. The main dining room didn’t offer the Chocolate Journey desserts that were advertised. We ate pizza for half of our meals because it was the best option. Sabatini’s was ok overall. Salty Dog Gastropub was ok. I expect more from the specialty dining after cruising with Celebrity and NCL. NCL’s Indian food in the buffet was fantastic. I thought Discovery Princess being new might have better food, but now I’m not sure if I want to give Princess another try.
