As a finish carpenter with more years experience than I care to admit to, you do a wonderful job of explaining techniques. You are clear, concise and instructive in a way that any novice or hobbyist/DIY carpenter can learn these techniques. There is a tool that fits into your drill called a nail spinner. It's inexpensive and will take any finishing nail from #4 up to a #10. This eliminates the need for a pilot hole then following up with the finish nail. In using it, the nail for the molding is used and remains behind once it is spun into the molding. A couple taps of the hammer and final setting with a nail set is all that is needed. This is especially handy in that, you needn't let go of an unsecured piece of trim after drilling your pilot hole. Nail spinners are readily available at any home improvement center or hardware store.

thank you, Susan, I'm glad to be of help!
I love the way you teach; you definitely have the gift of teaching and encouragement. I feel inspired, ready to get set up for trim and molding. I am 81, doing most of the work myself in my kitchen remodel, doing things I've never done before, things I've always been told are man's work, and you are my perfect teacher and guide. Thank you for sharing your great store of knowledge. I'll definitely be back.

Leah, I just love you. Your great attitude and smiling face always makes me giggle when you start your vids. Thanks for taking the time to show us rookies some stuff.
I have been blue collar tradesman for almost 40 years now, so long that I forget most of what I once knew how to do. Leah, you are a wonderful reminder of the days of sharing knowledge with those that desire wisdom. You are a very good teacher. In short I like most of what you say and do but most of all, I like the way you do it. Please keep up the important work that you do. The world needs more people like you. Thank you.
I’m a plumber but my dad built cabinets and then houses for years. I helped him when I was young before he got out of the business. I also did a little trim work here and there with my old boss on his personal projects. Anyways I always had a brad nailer. I was helping my dad install a door for my brother and since it’s out of town and he couldn’t bring a bunch of tools we used finish nails. I started driving nails like I normally would. My dad chastised me for not using a nail set. Needless to say after learning a trade and parts of many other trades I realized you can always learn more. I especially enjoy learning old tricks even if they’re irrelevant due to technology

I have watched a few of your videos, and hands down, you have the BEST practical ways of doing the work in the field! Awesome instructions, great techniques! Thanks. You blow the rest out of the water! Please, keep them coming!

OMG! I ran into your video again, right when I'm finding out how to do crown molding. You're awesome, and love your videos!
Great tips, good explanation. When I measure between 2 walls for crown, base or chair, I use two sticks held together, spread them out tight to the walls, hold together very well, then measure overall length.
Thanks, Leah! Love your channel. Going to install crown today!
Girl you are good and you think of everything to tell us. Thank you very much for this video!

Quick tip I figured out while doing my crown molding for the first time ever, yes first time ever, is to mark the ceiling with the pencil not the wall. The reason for this is because the ceiling is white and the pencil mark can easily be covered with the white caulk. My wall color was gray (hers was yellow) and trying to caulk on gray and trying to get rid of the line from the pencil was challenging at times. You can do this!! cause I was able to do this. Again it was my first time doing it and it was a success. The wife loves the job so much she asked me to do the second room. She then likes the job so much again she told me to do the entire house. So I ordered 500 linear feet of 4-1/4” crown molding of her choice and I’m getting ready to do the entire house.
Thanks Leah, I'm Mexican my name is Gabriel, I like your videos, they are very helpful
Awesome! Thank you

Do you know of how to remove mold from the wall of a house. I have window air conditioners in two windows of one house and there was leaks around them and the water formed mold.
@oobaka1967
9 жыл бұрын
Sidney Mathious When it comes to mold, if the area of mold is larger than a few square feet, it's best to get professionals to do it. Mold is not good for the lungs. If it's just a little mold, soap and water will do the trick. NOT BLEACH !!!!

Amirhousein Hazratifar Thanks, Amir. We are working on the video you mentioned. At the moment, we are trying to figure out the best way to present the material in a simplified way that is easy to understand.
Great tip on the pilot hole Ms. Leah. I'm about to put some crown on a corner wall mount cabinet with a 45 degree face frame. Should I do a 22.5 angle cut? I've only done 90's before. Looking forward to your upcoming videos.
@seejanedrill
9 жыл бұрын
***** Yes, absolutely, the 22.5 cut will be bisecting the angle, which is exactly what you are supposed to do. Good luck!
What is the purpose behind using a nail to drill pilot holes instead of a drill bit?
A question for you: I don't have a nail gun. For attaching crown molding to the ceiling, what size finishing nails do you suggest? Would you do the same "cross nailing" that you did with a nail gun? Thanks for the video, it was great!
well said and we'll done many thanks l ia

Cate's Garden Hi Chris, glad you liked it!
With a ceiling that has several areas where it has slight sags so it's not even, do you do the best you can and make certain you do a great job with the caulking or is there any other tricks?
