Crowds brave wet and mucky conditions for Ploughing Championships in Laois
Gardaí have asked those travelling to the National Ploughing Championships to follow planned traffic routes and “not your sat nav.”
The three-day event gets underway today, with thousands expected to arrive at Ratheniska, Co Laois.
Gardaí have asked attendees to “not use Sat Nav to get to your parking location” and have instead advised motorists to use the colour coded routes based on the direction they are travelling from.
There are reports of heavy traffic converging on the championships from all directions this morning but there have so far been no accidents and traffic does seem to be moving well.
Signage should be followed on arrival as road closures and alternative routes can be put in place at short notice.

This is the only time farmers get any attention. The media is just rubbish at reporting on things that aren't getting talked about
