I love this short. The animation is stunning, its suprisingly dark, and it nails the feeling of isolation.

It's as simple as this: This was a short that did not warrant a lot of cheering. This one was meant to hit you in the heart, and the "lack" of reaction actually shows it working. People were invested in what was happening, the plight of Mei's loss of not only her fellow team members, but the only friend she had left in Snowball. This video was meant to invest you in the character, not make you get up and scream for joy. Look at it like this, no one watches a depressing movie and starts clapping wildly, so why would they with a somber story such as this?

Atlink Maybe because of the way it ended she revived snowball and went to join Winston and Overwatch? Maybe they where showing Blizzard they enjoyed the short even though it was dark and depressing.

Stop hating on this short, people. Not every short has to be full of action and violence. For once, it's nice to get mostly lore in the short. Like the Last Bastion short. You get to see where it all began. Backstories are just as important as present day life because it explains why things are the way the are and shows how certain backstories mix together.

Meeba it couldn't have recharged at the ecopoint because Mei used the rest of his battery. The only way he survived was because of mei's solar panel thingy

Totally got the feels on this one. People don't realize how close snowball almost bit the bullet. With a completely drained battery and no life support to protect the little guy from the extreme cold the hardware could have been damaged, leaving the data corrupted and no more snowball.

The robot was the only thing keeping her company, and it was probably the only thing humouring them for all that time and preventing them from going crazy on all that isolation, you could clearly see how much she was attached to it. Like when someone that is hurt says "Go without me" on a movie, even though you know they have a better chance of surviving if that person stays behind, and even though you know they will be fine in the end, the act of sacrificing and separation is sad, that's just human nature.

I love how quiet the audience is in this one really respectful really respectful as much as I love a good Encore though I mean everyone loves them to react big but you know what it shows that they're immersed here and trying to make the experience great for everyone else saving the Applause to the end

Ill say it again. Easily, the best short. Thank you blizzard for involving emotion over explosions. Incredible little movie. And mei is insanely adorable

I love it how the crowd was crying out "NO!" when Snowball was looking at his charge station. This short never made me feel much emotion but when they said that made me a bit sad.

its not that they scream at everything randomly, they scream when something cool/unexpected happens. if you dont like it, enjoy the youtube video they will eventually upload on their official overwatch channel. in fact, when people show their emotions by screaming/crying it means that they are enjoying the show, and besides that, it shows that they are human, not robots. its like watching horror movies: the whole idea is to get you scared - you cant enjoy the movie if you're not scared

I'm rewatching all crowd reactions to OW animated shorts. They are always watching it in silence and are interested. Only in Moiras reveal they were gasping and stuff like that when they saw that she can both heal and damage with her ult.

This short was so emotional, such a tragic story that teaches you to keep moving even through tough times. Loved it!

Mei needed to see that Winston call. Winston hoped it would reach just one ear and I’m so glad to see it was Mei. I sobbed. That whole room was sobbing. You’re sobbing. I love mei

I love the snow they had falling! So creative!

This was the first short i watched and it made me go and buy overwatch. It made me cry so fucking hard. I will always love this short no matter what.

omg they added fake snow at the end, that got me feeling so sad. Back when it felt that blizzard still cared enough to try and immerse us into the story, back when it was still just nerds making games and coming together with the community. Holy shit 😭 We might never experience that again

Nah. The machines malfunctioned from time and batteries dying. And if they recharged on solar power but the storm went on for so long they couldn't charge, that's also a factor.

It's the german culture, gamescom is always more subdued than Blizzcon, I was at gamescom last year, it's excitement for sure, but less animated because of that.

its a german crowd therefore everyone is silent and enjoys the show not like everywhere else where there are those screaming idiots, that annoy everyone. also there wasnt much too scream about in the short, it was more directed to making you think (and try not to cry in public). also we didnt see any faces, so no way to check for silent emotions. Sombra on the other hand was action packed, showing off a new hero and her abilities, of course there is gonna be more loud reactions to that than to a hero and a story we already knew (kinda). so comparing those 2 is just not a good idea, hope that explains a little :)

It's sad that no one in the crowd was very ecstatic. Every Heroes needs a chance in the spotlight but once a Heroe the community dislikes gets a shot no one wants it. Every heroe has a backstory not every short needs action. Me I was kinda a mysterious character anyways so it's nice they made a more serious short instead of action every second which is still nice.
