Your explain of the slope relationships of crossover filters, and combine result was informative for me. I am still new to REW(neophyte). There seems to be an almost infinite learning curve with it. Humbling to say the least. Thanks for your efforts here. I was sick from November to January last year. First time in over a decade I had any real illness. Lets both hope for a better time of it this year.

You're the only true content creator ive understood about car audio im learning quite a bit and having an understanding. There is so many questions i want to ask, but for now i want to know about how do you know what is the ideal curve you should target if you want to sum flat i have a 3 way fronts and a 2 way rear and a rear sub

"ideal" house curve is personal prefference. You need to try a few and figure out what you like.

2 x American Bass 12 inch 1000 watt subs and 2 x Alpine 8 inch 350 watt subs (using for stereo mid bass). Alpines Frequency Response says 30Hz to 200Hz. Also have 4 x 6.5 inch Morel mid and tweeter combos 50Hz and up. Not sure where to cross them over. Not worried about tweeters because I'm using passive crossovers for the midrange.

Hello. Thanks for video. Good job. Little note, there are not 6dB slope Linkwitz filters, only 12, 24, 48... Your 6dB are Butterworth, and they also can sum flat, but only in 6/6, 18/18, 30/30...

Hypothetically What happens if you cross over your mid base at 80 Hz with a 12 DB slope. But to help with some of the dips and cancellations you cross over the subwoofer with a 90hz 12 DB slope. Would they still be in phase since you’re still using two 12 DB slopes? I mean, naturally, I understand that we don’t have an answer until we run pink noise through the system and actually get an acoustical response. But just like I said, hypothetically, with that tend to probably make sense? Crossing the crossover points at slightly different levels so that way they wouldn’t be so much of a dip.

Well, my sub was crossed at 100Hz 12dB or so, to match 70Hz 24dB acoustical slope. At all depends.

@@RAW-CAt I will play with it today with my processor. I have 6x9 mid drivers so i can go a little bit lower in tuning . I might try 70hz and a 90 hz with Sub. But definitely stay with matching slopes correct? I mean as a starting point. I know there’s no such thing as concrete perfection. Everything is to the ear of the listener. Oh never mind I just saw you did the same thing I thought about doing. You had two different slopes. But I can see how all that blends itself together because although the slopes may be different, the crossover points are different. So it reduces the amount of phase relationship issues.

Yes they do. But what matters is the acoustical data that you are measuring with a mic.

I'm just wondering why you want a Flat Sum when you cross over a sub woofer and a mid-range speaker? If you get a peak at your crossover point will it sound louder and wouldn't you want it to sound louder?

In SQ we aim for a linear frequency response with no peaks and dips. We like when all frequencies sound the same and nothing stands out. We do want more level for lower frequencies, but that is achieved using correct targets and not overlapping the driver responses.

I have a pair of Alpine 8 inch SWR-8D4 350 watt speakers for heavy midrange. The Frequency Response says 30Hz to 200Hz and I'm wondering where to cross them over running with 2 x 12 inch subs and Morel 6.5 inch combos for highs. Any advice?

Ok and what about the high end. Should I cut them off around 200Hz and start my 6.5s there? Would you run them in stereo or mono when running them with 2 x 12s that are in mono? I was thinking to run them in stereo but not sure if that makes sense.

    @@mootine2007at the high end ~90Hz. Those 8s can act as a "front sub" frequency range wise. Sub 0-45Hz, 8s - 45-90Hz, 6.5s - 90Hz and up.
