Crossing into 🇨🇦 Canada in a Van (almost denied entry!)

We are taking our van international! In this video we are taking a trip to Alberta, Canada and we take you through the entire process of bringing our van across the border. Come with us as we explore the great white North. We will also give you our honest first impressions of Canada and take you to the quintessential Canadian fast food chain, Tim Hortons. Is the coffee and food they're going to be better than the states? I guess we're going to find out.
We are documenting this border crossing on our way to Calgary for a Trusted Housesitter’s house sit. On the way, we stop at Waterton National Park for a little hike before heading to the city. Within the next few months we will be documenting our trip from the mainland States through Canada to Alaska and back to the States. We will be taking you through the Canadian Rockies, Exploring Canada's national parks, I'm taking you on the Alaskan Highway on our way to Alaska.

Welcome to Canada 🍁. To bad you didn't start in Vancouver B.C. $2.33 L for gas { Regular } but the Canadian gallon is bigger than the US gallon enjoy The U.S. liquid gallon and the U.S. dry gallon are different units defined by different means. The U.S. liquid gallon is defined as 231 cubic inches and equates to approximately 3.785 litres. One imperial gallon is equivalent to approximately 1.2 U.S. liquid gallons.Jul 22, 2018

Hi. My question is about food. I've crossed the border numerous times in a car but not in a campervan. How do they feel about food in your fridge? Is there a website with that info? I figure no fresh fruit or veggies but do you need to dump your meats before crossing into Canada and again to re-enter the U.S.?

So when you go to the Border into Canada I have a question. I was born in Toronto in 57 and moved to NC USA in 1971 and became a citizen of USA and currently living in North Carolina. Here's the question: When they ask where are you from? Should I tell them I was born in Toronto but moved to USA and living in NC now. OR should I keep it simple and just say I'm from North Carolina and here to visit for the day and heres my passport. What are your thoughts?

Don’t know the rules as they pertain to USA citizens in 🇨🇦. Canadians however are not so much as to accept a free hotdog for having served as a volunteer in the USA 🇺🇸. (Canada’s rule). Such an offence could result in the Canadian offender not being allowed to cross the border for a period of five years. I volunteered at the RTR and WRT’s a few years back. I got a letter from my volunteer boss/leader stating I was not compensated in any way. They gave volunteer t-shirts to wear during the events. This was to identify a volunteer. I felt I had to give them away. I didn’t want to get into trouble.

I don't get the whole "I shouldn't have told them about the house-sit" thing and the suggestion that next time you'd answer differently. Always answer border agents truthfully. You were asked what you were doing in Canada and you answered. Respect their authority to assess your entry as it is a privilege and not something you are automatically entitled to. It seems the video didn't show all the questions. Entry could have been denied because Meghan & Matt are KZreadrs. Any income made from videos produced in Canada would be subject to Canadian income tax. Now clearly YTers with millions of views would be more apt to be denied on that basis vs smaller content creators. Many American full-time RVers and Van-lifers who consider themselves 'nomads' while they work remotely using their internet connection, wrongly assume they are entitled to continue that work from within Canada.

FYI, being a bit naive is amazing so don't. blame us in Canada. It would have been exactly the same going the other way. I have watched other similar videos where if you are performing any type of work then you would require a work visa as an example. John 3:16-21 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
