Very good man! On my second channel I did a "hammer hack" and used a high carbon wood wedge to make a cross peen. My aim was to demonstrate that using the wedge was a way for a beginner/novice(any level)to make there own hammer with little tools and use it. Anvil, hammer, eye punch, grinder and something to cut the extra length of he wedge,(hot cut, hardy cut, angle grinder ect.) It was my second hammer ever and it turned out pretty well. Looks like a dog head hammer with a cross peen lol. But soon I will have more income to get better steel and do it from scratch. Gots a spot at our farm market this spring and some live demos at a few hippie fests this summer. Thanks for all you do man! Seriously 🍻

Nice work, Mr. Trent! I use the straight peen hammer you made me all the time, it's one of my favorites.

Traditionally smiths used the tools they had at the time. We’re doing the same by using what is available to us

I actually made a dual diagonal cross peen hammer out of S7. I didn't forge any of it, I used my 2×72 to grind it to shape.

If you are doing production work, yes. If you do less than 20 blades a month, get canola
