I find that a lot of hoods won’t stay on my head because I nearly always keep my hip-length hair up in a bun which I guess sticks out too far behind my head - I like that your pattern will make it possible to enlarge the hood as much as I need to keep my poor ears warm 😁

Totally awesome pattern!!! Thank you so much!!! It goes perfectly with the poncho I made. Originally I wanted a poncho without a hood because hoods can be cumbersome especially if you're chilly inside & just want to relax on your couch. But this makes the poncho much better for those chilly days outside when you need a head & neck covering. Your instructions were very easy to follow. You just gained a new subscriber. God bless you.

Silly me I should have specified this earlier. The border I added around the face opening was done this way. Instead of cutting the yarn you turn your work. Skip the first 2 half double crochets & do 5 double crochets in the next stitch. Skip 1 stitch. Do a slip stitch in the next stitch. Skip a stitch then do 5 double crochets in the next stitch. Skip a stitch then do a slip stitch. Continue this way around & then sew it along the last row of half double crochets the same way you did. I can't promise you that the stitch count will be perfect. You might have to modify it a little. I hope this helps & I hope my instructions were understandable. I love adding this simple little border to a lot of my pieces. Thanks again.

Love this. If you add a bead when using 2 strands keeps them straight.

When I try to crochet 2 yarns together they get all tangled up. Any solution to this would be appreciated. Thanks

Pulling from the center is helpful for this technique. Also just keep an eye on the yarn and try to manage and untangle as you go.

Out of curiosity, would it be possible to do double crotchets instead of half double crotchets to speed up the process? Thanks for the video, so excited to finish my project! ❤️

Hello! Just wondering if anyone would like like to field a question from a newbie. What's the most efficient way to unwind and fluff new yarn? I understand it's not completely possible, but I'd like to return the locks to more of a natural state. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Any sincere thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi Monique, for what purpose are you unwinding and fluffing yarn? Depending on the fiber, this may or may not work. For any wools the fibers are too short and they need the twist to stay together at all. I would only do this with acrylics based yarn.

Hi! I would still consider myself a beginner and I've been looking for a pattern like this and love this one, but I have one question before I start :) At the end of the first part, you have 39 rounds with 90 stitches each. Then for the hood, you start by only doing 45 stitches until you turn your work again, right? The way I'm thinking, now you basically have two extra rows on one side of the hood, but none on the other side? At which point you start working in rows that span the entire length of the bottom part? But then wouldn't the hood turn a little wonky? I think I'm misunderstanding you here, but I can't figure out the 45 stitch row part :/

Hi, thanks for the feedback. There is one row you do 45, then tw and start working in rows of 90sts. If you end on an even row it won’t look to wonky.

I hope someone can help me understand, I’m not good at reading patterns and so I’m unsure what I am doing on round 26. It says just go halfway across, chain 1 and turn work. I don’t understand why I am only going halfway and then I start the hood and go all the way around. I’m so confused. 💗🧶
