I watch you alot. You could have said I cant crochet and never tried... you could have tried and said this is too hard and quit... i remember you saying that yes it does hurt but i like the look of the crochet on the outside so you did it. You could have just stayed on the granny squares and stopped trying anything new. You are doing amigrumi... i have been crocheting for over 50 years and have never even tried amigrumi because i thought it would be to hard. You AMAZE me. I am so glad i know you and that you are so courageous. I will try amigrumi. I love your Nessi. You should make Nessi in a big chuncky yarn so your son can put him on his bed. I think your Nessi looks better than the pattern un the book. Some of the crocheters use a long piece of yarn in a different color instead of a real stitch marker because it is easier to move it up as you go on the in the round. I always like your videos but i only comment about 1% at a time.

Hi Kayla , I think you have done a wonderful job. Nobody would know any different . I would not be able to wing it like you did so well done . When I work in the round I always put a stitch marker in the first stitch I make , then when I finish the round I count my stitches always including the first one with the stitch marker . I write down the number of rounds on paper and cross them off as I go . Don't forget to move the stitch marker with each new round . I hope this helps . I'm so glad your enjoying your projects , I sure enjoy seeing them . Thanks for sharing 😀💖

Nessie and The Princess are gorgeous. I love using bigger hook too for amigurumi. I think The Princess looks beautiful with no hair. The first thing that I thought of when I saw your Princess was the kids going through chemo and have lost their hair or the kids with alopecia. It shows you are beautiful with or without hair.

Hi Kayla I had a lot of trouble with keeping track of rows, I used a Bobby pin to mark the very first stitch in each row it’s easier than a regular st marker but I think the key to keeping stitch count is always marking the very first stitch. I love your little Princess and Nessy so cute. Have a great day 🙏🙏❤️

Hi Kayla! My daughter and I have started small amigrirumis too! The same reason as you, to practice and use small Hooks. We are saving them in a box and will give them to our local police station for the cops to have in their trunks for little people! Our police give kids who are going through something or are scared a little stuffed animal to comfort them so my daughter and I are excited to make more, comfort some kids who may need a "hug". Nessie is so cute!!! I think I need to order that book! Stay healthy, stay safe! Much love from Minnesota!🧶💜

Hi Kayla! I love your Ami’s. They’re so cute! I’m not big on making Ami’s myself, but when I do, and you are working in the round, I use a piece of yarn (highly contrasting) as the stitch marker. When you come to the next row, you just bring up one end of the yarn and leave it in place. As you continue the project, you’re just moving the yarn up each row. I hope you’re able to understand what I’m saying! 😬 Take care and we’ll see you soon!

  • @lindajeanhouse6443
    @lindajeanhouse64433 жыл бұрын

Love the Princess and Nessy! Remember, no one actually knows what the Loch Ness Monster looks like. Only glimpses have been seen. Yours is adorable and might just be the true representation! The best way for me to keep track of rows with amigurumi is to use a piece of yarn in a contrasting color, lay it over the first stitch of the first row. When you do the second row, stitch over it and follow directions until the last stitch of the row. Put the yarn over the second crow's first stitch without removing the yarn from the first row. Stitch around. Keep placing the yarn marker back and forth across the first stitch of each row. The yarn will make a dotted line in a straight path up the side of your project. I hope this makes sense. Maybe it will work for you. I am often off by a stitch or two even while doing this. I am forever increasing and decreasing to get my count right. No one can tell. If someone starts counting stitches on your projects, slap it right out of their hands!

Kayla, both items came out adorable. First thing I do is make a copy of the pattern so I can tick of each row, and always use a stitch marker in the first stitch. Sorry but you do need to count stitches, if you’re off count, frog til you get back to the stitch marker which is your first stitch of that row. Good Luck!

I think both Nessie and the princess look great. I made my granddaughter an amigurumi doll for Christmas who was much bigger than the pattern, and looked little like the original doll. I had trouble with stitch count and used a stitch marker finally which helped a little and I used an ergonomic 3.75 hook which helped. In the end, my granddaughter loved it and she didn't know in the end that most of the construction of it was winging it. It made her happy which made me happy, and that's the point, isn't it? Thank you for sharing this story. It made me feel better about my struggles! 😁

I always have to use a stitch marker when working in the round or I lose count too. If you’re more comfortable slip st and chain 1 every row, you can do that if you don’t mind there being a line on your finished project. It’s not that noticeable in my option. Your projects look great anyways!! :)

I think your amigurimis still turned out really cute. I have been making amigurimi for years and still have to use stitch markers because my brain tends to wander off if I don't. I've been teaching my daughter how to make them now too and I have been teaching her to always use a stitch marker in either the first stitch or the last stitch of the round, whichever one she prefers. But I do tell her to always do it the same way or she might lose track, even if a pattern or video says something different. I crochet tight also and usually use a 4mm or 4.5mm hook with no problems with my amigurimis. I use a 5mm or 5.5mm when using 5weight yarn with no issues, too. If a pattern calls for thin yarn I still use regular #4 yarn and just get a larger set of safety eyes out.

Nessie is great! I found that when I crochet in the round, I find it works best for me to mark the last stitch. All of a sudden I could stay on stitch count.

I have trouble with spirals too, I just slip stitch and chain one and keep going, I do remember to slip stitch over one to compensate for the chain one... and I deal with the fact I have a seam up the back. Hugs~ Lea

I use a piece of yarn that I start on the first row as a marker then push it back after next to we and pull it forward after following row. This way I can count the rows and not have to move a stitch marker l. When finished just pull out the scrap yarn. I hope this helps. Thanks you for your nice videos.

It took me awhile to stay on stitch count, especially ones that didn't slip stitch join at end of each round. My best advice is just keep practicing! Amigurumi are tough I think. They are adorable!

I don’t like stitch markers either. I use a long piece of yarn to mark my starting point for each row and at the end it kind looks stitched in but I then pull it out when I am done. Makes working in the round a lot easier. On my next vlog it will try to show you better what I am talking about. It will make it easier for you. I love your princess!

Hi Kayla, If you cover the birds while you're recording your vlog, they'll quiet down. I used to have parakeets and when they were noisy, we covered them at night or when we were on the phone.

If you cant use a 3.5 it's no big deal. Unless it's just a goal. That's what I use to use but moved to a G to make some things a bit larger. I use bobby spins as a stitch marker. Your yarn friends are here if you need any tips. Your creations look fabulous though. Much love❤

Hi Kayla. Love your Nessie. It turned out super cute. When making amigurumi it is easier if you count your stitches on every row, every time. That way if it doesn't match the right count you can frog 🐸 only one row at a time. Stitch marker in first stitch of the row works for me.
