I would suggest that on the start of the brim you go into the the front stitch only , this works far better for making the brim stand out. Lovely Hat.🥰

Amazing tutorial thank you!
Did this hat for my friend and she loved it! Thank you so much for this clear tutorial, it was fun creating this although connecting the squares and the top of the hat difficult. But overall, this is definitely my favorite project as a beginner! Also, would like to share that I opted for a flat brim instead of a curly one. To do this, I followed round 1 which is 4 hdc and 1 inc then repeat, then hdc across for 2nd round. Round 3 is 6 hdc and inc then repeat, round 4 is hdc across, round 5 is 8 hdc and inc then repeat, and finished it with round 6 with hdc across. It would also look better if you do hdc flo! Thank you so much again 💖 Planning to do this again when I have time so me and my bestie will have matching bucket hats!!

i definitely agree that the flat slip stitch join was the trickiest part in making this hat 🥲 but i'm so glad that you were able to make one for your friend! thank you also for sharing the adjustments you made! i definitely agree that flo would make the brim pop out more, i don't know why i did blo in the tutorial 🤦♀️ but i'm just glad that it works eitherway 😅 i would love to see the matching bucket hats some time! 💓

you can use a bigger hook or a bigger size yarn! i made two hats with this pattern. i used the same yarn for both hats but they're made with different hook sizes and the one i made using a bigger hook came out bigger, i hope this helps :))
Thanks!
a little late here but: thank you so much! amazing tutorial, amazing steps. the granny squares are so nice, first time getting a really square one! i can't wait to use them later in another stuff. i have to say i freestyle some parts (the attachment was hard for me) but still got the bucket hat in the end! so cute

Could I use this same pattern but with different types of granny squares? I would like to make a skull granny hat for Halloween

thank youu! if i convert the measurements, in centimeters, it would 10cm for the squares and 16.5cm for the top pf the hat 🤗
when you're inserting into the corner loops when connecting, is it referring to one of the 2 chains made for the corner or the final double crochet?

@elisabethg1
Жыл бұрын
@@angela.christine I did the exact corner but I got 18 slip stitches not 16! I’m so confused
Thank you for your tutorial. My question is the top of the hat finished with 95 stitches but the granny squares circle has a total of 80 stitches. How do I match the stitches when I join the top to the body?
@angela.christine
Жыл бұрын
i purposely made the top of the hat to finish in 95 stitches to match the total of 95 stitches from all 5 of the granny squares.. please don't forget that you will also include the corners of the granny squares (at time 37:12) into your slip stitch join which adds to the stitch count! if that's not the case, maybe you may have stitched in some extra stitches when you slipped stitched the squares together which is why you ended up with 80 stitches from the granny squares instead of 95! i hope this helps!
@hakurouxavier8560
Жыл бұрын
@@angela.christine The granny squares with the corners only adds up to 85 stitches (15 + 2 chains)*5. Where are the extra 5 stitches coming from?
@fatimacruz34
Жыл бұрын
@hakurouxavier8560 you have to add all 4 chains, including the 2 on both sides, 15+ 4 will equal 19!
How much yarn did you use?
Does the ch2 in row 7 of the top of the hat count as a stitch? I’m having a hard time getting the right amount of stitches in that row
@angela.christine
Жыл бұрын
considering that the stitch count could be tricky esp when you need a certain number for the top of the hat, i would suggest that you could take the liberty to make extra increases in other stitches until you get right number of stitches for that round :>
How many grams of yarns did you used for the pink yarn?
Does it matter what yarn I use or does it have to be 5 ply milk cotton?
@angela.christine
Жыл бұрын
since the size of the squares and hat also depends on the yarn, if you can't get 5 ply milk cotton yarn, i suggest getting something similar!
I have few granny square of measurements 3×3inch.. What changes I need to make to make ur style of hat? How many squares are required to be joined around? What about the top part?(measurements) Please do 🤗🙏

since there are many kinds of granny squares and i dont really know what type you have, im not quite sure what you can do about them :( but for my hat, i made 5 granny squares around and the measurements are at 00:20 :)) i really tried to make the tutorial as clear as i can so i hope you find it helpful 🤗
hello! The yarn im using makes the 4 double crochet pettals look too bulcky! Is there any difference if I make 3 double crochets in each pettal for the squares?

@angela.christine
Жыл бұрын
ohhh, it's actually quite difficult to modify the number of stitches since one step affects another :(( but i suggest using a thinner weight yarn with a smaller hook so that it would produce a smaller sized hat! i love the idea of you making bucket hats for your great grandkids and i hope it all works out well! 🥰🫶🏻
Also where do you buy your yarn? Sorry im a beginner

in round 5 and 6 the top hat, how many rows are there? because mine in round 7 is less than 80 😞😞
@angela.christine
Жыл бұрын
oh noo, please make sure that you didn't miss any stitches in each round to avoid any miscount 🙏 in round 6, there should be 64 stitches (the chain 2 at the start of the round is included), but at round 7, there should be 80 stitches (not including the chain 2 for this count), i hope this helps!!

oh nooo, ruffling tends to happen if you have too many stitches or if your tension is too tight! maybe try to take note of these as your work along your rounds~

Thank you for the tutorial! Somehow I had to make 6 squares to cover all the top, I'm not sure what I did wrong, can u pls help 😂😂
@angela.christine

omgg the size of your squares probably has something to do with the yarn you used! if you used thinner yarn, it would result to smaller squares :< maybe you could also try to loosen your tension so that the squares will be a bit bigger! 🙏

The number is correct ...just follow the instruction...I've made it perfectly just today. Thank you Angela...for the pattern.
Why ru doing half double and double crochets together on the last few rounds of the top of the hat? Why not just do double crochets all the way around while normally increasing? Sorry I’m just curious what it does to the hat or why you do it that way
@angela.christine
2 жыл бұрын
i only did that in Round 6! i decided to add DC in the gaps since they have lower dips while adding HDC on the DC stitches from the previous round which are a little higher, but the rest of the rounds afterwards are done with HDC! i hope this made sense! 😅
I finished the hat and I love it but it came out so big 😭😭 idk what to do
