I am wondering if you realize that rhe wrong side of the scales are on the top side of your work which means that the right side of the scales which should be on the top are hidden. Other than that the video had an excellent angle and great volume.
I always think about who was the first person to figure out how to make this stitch and pattern. Very cool stitch.
Thank you a thousand times..I am a 53 year old that has been crocheting since about 8 years old..but didn't know too many stitches..with your help and the internet I am learning. YOU have taught me Crocodile Stitch..and I am so very grateful ..I am so excited to work on some new projects now using it..I think I will have family members lining up at my door wanting this stitch in something..lol BIG HUGS Mike YOU ROCK..,,/crocheting happy..Anne
OMG! I can't believe I did it! I'm a beginner left-handed crocheter and when a friend of mine posted this to her FB page, I thought it looked so cool but thought I couldn't handle it. I did it!!! Had I read this in a pattern only (I have a baby pattern) I would have thought it was impossible but your tutorial makes it easy to understand and follow, however I must say, I didn't find the need to "turn" my work as that complicated things for me. Thank you so much, I feel so proud of myself!
I have been crocheting for more decades than I care to admit and have never seen this pattern, let alone tried it. Thank you so much for your very simple, yet detailed, instructions!
You are, by far, the best crochet instructor on youtube.
I just want to say thank you! I am nearly in tears at my happiness that I've found your video! I have tried following along with this stitch one almost a dozen other videos all doing it a different way an I have nearly given up! I've been wanting this stitch for my husband's scarf and thanks to you I finally can make it! Thank you!!!
You are the first people I have ever seen that hold their hook the way I do. The women at my knitting/ crochet group thought I held my hook funny. Also, I taught one of my friends to crochet holding their hook this way and they said it helps with their carpal tunnel. :)

Barbara Jacobs A skirt? You must be really slim, lucky you! For all the rest of us, it would be waaay too bulky... I suppose that if one makes it with a variegated water coloured yarn, it could be a mermaid skirt!

You are the best teacher ever! Thanks for helping me to learn more techniques. So far you've helped me learn this one and the never ending granny square.
I used your tutorial to learn how to make crocodile stitch, to teach to a friend. She loved it and made many things. Then I made fingerless mitts for my daughters using your tutorial as basis, and then I used it to make a head band and now I am making a scarf. Thank you for your wonderful tutorial.
Mikey! I've been struggling to figure this stitch out, and you made it super easy for me. I've only been crocheting for a year and your videos help me so much, thanks! :-)
Mickey, I've watched at least 4 other tutorials of this stitch, yours is simpler and easier to follow and the results are exactly the same! Thanks so much for another great tutorial.
I was trying to find something different and now I have, I'm visual to and a beginner but have been finding projects not so beginner, have been learning a lot of different stitches and try to find your tutorials because you really teach and make sure that people understand. Thank you so much.
You have proven to me that "you're never too old to learn"! In the past few days you've taught me the C2C, which I adore (made a great pillow) and now "The Crocodile Rock", lol! I must admit I had to pay a little more attention on this and that's not always easy at my age! Just want to thank you Mikey and let you know what a great teacher you are!
Thank you Mikey! I've been wanting to try this but was hesitant because it looked so complicated. Now that I've watched and crocheted along with your video I can't wait to make my first project out of this stitch.
I have watched numerous crochet tutorials, and none compare with the quality of Mikey's. He makes sure you "get it". Very clear verbally, and clear picture of the stitch placement. I especially look for HIS videos. Thank you for featuring his tutorials. :)
I recently used this tutorial to crochet a scarf using the crocodile stitch and won a blue ribbon in a local club's cultural arts. Thank you so much for creating such a clear and concise video tutorial. I would never have been able to do this without it.
I've crocheted for several years and I have always figured out a pattern, I just had to stay with it or sometimes put it down and come back later. Eventually I was successful. I love crochet and it should not be a chore it should be fun and relaxing. So, I've started to ignore some of the new or what appeared to be more difficult stitches. But, your tutorial videos make what I was avoiding look so easy! THANK YOU so much for these videos. I can now do different patterns without the stress of figuring out the directions.
Don't think I could do the crocodile stitch without the video. Thanks!
Thanks Mickey. I took it apart at least 5 times before I figured it out. I kept watching your tuturial over and over. lol I love the stitch. Thank you.
I started a scarf in this, and after three rows managed to mess it up. Ripped out, went back and watched this video again and it was so clear where I had made my mistake. Now the project is progressing along nicely. Thank you so much. And also thanks for introducing me to Lion Brand.
Okay, this looks so much easier than other tutorials and now I'm mad I didn't see this one before ruining the purse I'm working on! I like the way you do you posts instead of having a single post between double posts. I made a lot of mistakes on the way I did it and missed some double posts so now I have to force it into the string on half a post. I'm not undoing all that work! I like your stitch tutorials the best because you explain things so well.
I've been crocheting 37 years and still cannot read a pattern. Being able to watch the videos, I have learned all kinds of new stitches in no time! Thank you so much for posting these.
I'm really glad that he added that little anecdote at the end about how he didn't feel like he could learn it and that he's a visual learner, because I feel the same way. However, he broke this stitch down and paced the tutorial out so well, that I am really interested in giving it a go!
Champion. I couldn't get this the first time I tried. I got lost somewhere but you've got my crocodile stitch looking gorgeous. Thank you!
Great tips and tutorial. I had started watching a different one and was getting really confused . You showed which way to flip it and the fold and suddenly it made sense!
Thank you Mikey, it's a joy to hear your voice and see what you're doing so CLEARLY! I totally follow your thoughts. Can't wait to try this out!
I've tried to do this stitch a number of times following other video tutorials and failed each time miserably. Your video, I think, explains it much better. So, I'm going to give it another try. I think I will be successful this time. Thank you for this and all of your other great tutorials!
First, you have an adorable giggle, and second, this was an excellent tutorial. I like that you didn't edit out simple mistakes, it really helps new crochet-ers see how easy it is to fix errors. Thank you!
EVERY DAY I KEEP ON LEARNING SOMETHING NEW !! BESOSSS!
I think the sample in the video is wide enough for a scarf but if you want to make it wider you could just add some stitches to it by groups of six until its the size you want .... cathy @ the crochet crowd helpdesk :)
I like this stitch. I think it is so easy when you see the beginning of the stitches done correct for the first time. Thank you so very much!
Thank you so much. I've been wanting to learn how to do this stitch for ages, but no tutorial really helped me. Your's are easy to follow and in wonderful detail. Thank you!!!! Looking forward to making many items.
OMG!!!! I have seen quite a few tutorials trying to learn this and they have all just managed to confuse me. Once I saw yours the penny dropped and you make it so easy to understand and follow. Thank you so so much!!!!!!!
Thanks so much for this tutorial. I never would have attempted that stitch without this video. I can't wait to try it myself. I see a trip to the yarn store in the near future
thanx mikey...i've made it....now i'm addicted to crocodile stitch...luv you so much...muah muah muah...
Absolutely love to do the "crocodile" stitch and your video on this stitch makes it effortless! Started a scarf with this stitch a while back but didn't have written instructions. I was thrilled to find them last evening, and have the second half of my scarf partially started now and will soon finish.
I loved this tutorial so much I went straight to my good yarn, not practice yarn and now I am making a button cowl. I can't stop crocheting it........
Love your way you explain. I'm trying to work on a wreath with croc stitches, I started 6 years ago and had to leave it as I was diagnosed with brain disease....but now I will try again and crochet through pain...so just watched your video again. Thank you ❤️
Even thought I'm left-handed, it is so helpful to see you do the stitching as well as hear the directions. Thank you for always taking the time to be so clear for us!!
Thank you Michael! The crocodile stitch looks great and your explanation was very clear. The yarn looked good too! Once again, thank you!
This is the best crocodile tutorial on youtube!!!!!!!!!! Thank you soooo much :)
This is an amazing tutorial. I've loved the finished product of this, but I've never been able to do it. Now I feel very confident that I can use this method to tackle any project that has this stitch! Thank you for posting this!
I just wanted to say thank you for all of your helpful videos. I pretty much know many crochet stitches, but am learning to read patterns and your videos are the most helpful for me in this search. You just made Crococidle stitch look easy to me. Your most helpful video for me has been the double cross stitch... still figuring that one out in terms of my specific pattern, but you have laid a fantastic foundation for me to spring board from. Thanks for your hard work!
WOW! What wonder video directions. I have tried this with written instructions, but no go. I learn way better from watching someone do it. This stitch is oh so much easier than it looks. Thanks for such wonderful directions.
THANK YOU, Mikey!!! I could NOT get this from another tutorial ... why did I think I could learn from anyone but you? AWESOME tutorials ~ thank you, thank you!
AWESOME tutorial! I agree with you, Mikey - I was concerned this pattern would be way too difficult for me, but your tutorial was done so well I am certain I can tackle it. Thank you!
DORAMARIE I am also left handed and I admit it's harder when all the videos are in the right hand version but if you just follow what he says and watch then it's not really too much of a problem! You just have to think in reverse! Right handed paper patterns are much harder to contend with! If I wasn't so shy at talking on video I would defo do a left handed video for you! Thank you Mikey for this video! Helped me figure out this amazing stitch.
Beautiful! I love the gradient in the color too!
Thank you so much! I could not figure out the written instructions I got for this stitch. I needed to see it done!! Fantastic
Yes, I did it....it is so much fun....still needing the video to walk me through it...but I can do it...so proud of me....great video...great teacher.
Mr Crochet Crowd, MIKEY!!! Thank you, so much! There's a stunning bag I want to make, with this stitch. I can read most patterns and get what they are on about as long as it's well written, but this one was just eluding me. So I came to KZread and decided to crochet along to this video to see if I could figure out where I went wrong. Now, thanks to you, I have almost finished all the required crocodile stitch on the bag, and the rest is pretty basic, so YOU, my friend, have helped me to make this beautiful bag! Thanks!
Hi this is Lucille from Pa. Thank you I love this stich thought it would be to hard but you made it simple. Can't thank you enough for all your tutorials. :)
Probably the best video tutorial I have watched on crocheting crocodile stitches! Seems really easy to follow but I haven't watched while I am following with my own crochet hook and yarn, so we'll see how it goes, when I'm able to do that! But so far, I say it's an EXCELLENT tutorial! :) Thank you for sharing your talent!
Thank you, I have watched a couple ofother tutorials on this and they confused me. You made it very easy and I got the hang of it right away. I'm using this to make a mermaid tail. Love this stich!!
Thank you, I did it, I did it! This is one stitch that I had hesitated to try because it looked so difficult to do. You're a great teacher!!!
Mikey, I am also a visual learner and your tutorials are the best I have ever found! I can finally understand how to do all of these wonderful stitches! Thank you!
thank you thank you thank you....I have been dying to learn this pattern for ages and looked at many tutorials and never got it...you made this so easy to learn, brilliant clear instructions. Thank you soooo much x
Mikey you are the best teacher!!!! I struggle so with placement of hook and not being sure if I am getting it right..... I've worked with Amazing before and know it is NOT easy to frog... so I was apprehensive about starting with this yarn but after 3 or 4 attempts and having to carefully rip back what I had done: I GOT IT!!!! Thanx for always offering the explanations that seem to work best for me!
This is beautiful. Thank you for taking the time to explain it so clearly.
Michael is always a great tutor! Clear voice instructions and movements plus tips on details. I thought this stitch will be difficult but I love those projects using this stitch n really want to make one. After watching this video I completely understand and know how now. Thank you so so so so much!!!
Thank you do much for this tutorial, you are an excellent teacher in that you show and clearly describe what you are doing. I had purchased a pattern for a pair of slippers with the crocodile stitch and for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to do the base row between the scales but one look at this tutorial and it was crystal clear. Thank you again.
Incredibly clear directions! Thanks so much! Like you, I have been worried this stitch would be too difficult for me. But now I am ready to give it a try!
Thank you Mike, I have watched so many other ut tuts and could not get it BUT YOU have shown me how! NOW I GET IT!!! Thank you sooo verrry much!!! Linda.
I love this guy. He makes it look so easy.
Best video teacher award goes to....👏🇨🇦🙏
Miley, after years (4 to be exact) of being intimidated by this darn stitch, thanks to this video I FINALLY GOT THE HANG OF THE CROCODILE STITCH!!!! I love you so much! Great video

Finally I've found the perfect tutorial for crocodile stitch, thank you so much! Can't believe that a man can explain this better than all those numerous girls and women out there xD
Great tutorial! Now I know exactly what to do with those spare skiens of yarn. My daughter will soon be rocking a crocodile stitch scarf
Awesome, great tutorial, can't wait to start my projects using the crocodile stitch!!! Thank you!
Like yourself, I have always feared doing this stitch because of the complexity of it......now after having gone thru your tutorial and practiced it for a bit, I am just as comfortable doing the crocodile as I am doing a simple granny square. Thank you Mikey for your great teaching style and technique.
I wanted to make a hat for my Grand daughter that LOVES Dinosaurs and Dragons she just turned 6. I saw this cute hat pattern and thought it would be so great for her. Well I looked and looked for instruction and just couldn't get it. Thanks Mike it just clicked when I watched your instruction video. Thank You so much for making this another pattern I love as well.
This is simply awesome!!! I can't wait to make a scarf from this yarn for fall. Thanks for such a great and easy to follow video tutorial. You are the best Mikey!
Thank you so much, Mikey, for posting this video. I have watched other videos on the same stitch, trying to learn it, and yours is so thorough, with great tips. I just created a test swatch with 5 rows, and it turned out great. Now I am thinking of all kinds of ways to use this stitch. Thank you, again! ♥
OMG, it looks so organic! I'll definitely give this a try, thanks for sharing!
I just wanted 2 thank you so much, I have learned the Crocodile stitch.
I just wonder who in the world works up all these wonderful crochet stitches?? This one is gorgeous and I can't wait to make something with it. Great instructions!
Like you I was procrastinating on learning b/c I thought it would be hard. This was a great tutorial. I picked it up no problem and can't wait to try using it for my crochet business! Thanks!
Sorry....We do have a few Left handed videos available now and will be converting more videos to left handed versions soon so keep your eyes out :) Cathy@ the crochet crowd
The most difficult part is to remember the sequence. It is a beautiful stitch and you are a great teacher. You stay on track. The downside of the stitch is that any pattern will require a lot of yarn. Thanks for the tutorial.
Beautiful! Thanks for this detailed explanation of the stitch.
Love this Video, thanks, it really helped me!
I did it! I chose you to pop my crocodile stitch cherry lol! Thanks for a great tutorial! It took me a minute because I’m a leftie but I will post my project and tag you! Thanks again and I had no idea you were with Allfreecrochet! I still get there newsletters! Thanks again Mikey you are the best! And don’t let anyone tell you different!😊❤️😉🙏🏼

I contributed with AFC back in 2010 and 2011. This was filmed many many years ago, of course. :D
Mickey Thank You for making this tutorial. I went to 3 other sites to learn this stitch and they were so confusing. Thanks again for making your instructions easy to understand.
Wow, I love this stitch so quick and easy! I can't wait to experiment with this stitch! Great job!!
Love it!...love it... Did I mention I love it!!!! Love it!
Thank you so much for the great tutorial. Will come back to the Crochet Crowd often.
Thank you so much! I tried several other tutorials and just couldn't understand this stitch. Now I've got it!
Thank you so much for this turorial. I have watched others and tried the written pattern and still had trouble but yours had me on scale row three before I knew it. Thanks again Mikey!
I have learned so many stitches and whole patterns from you! Thank you so much!
Love this stitch , you gave such a great tuturial i'm ready to make this scarf with the Lion brand Yarn .. those colors are so vibrant. Thanks Mike
Your a great teacher..I'll need to watch this one several times to get it..but you've done such a fine job demonstrating this...I know it's doable for me....Thank You..Mikey
I made my first crocodile stitch scarf and it looks fab, thank you so much for the easy to follow tutorial, I now have to make more for my family ... crochet monster x
Thanks Mikey - very clear tutorial. Listened and watched a couple times. I'm a visual too, so frogging and repeat until I got it perfect!! Love this stitch, and looking forward to doing a big project - I think a mermaid tail for my Granddaughter.
Thank you for this! I had been looking at a few different tutorials but I became confused during the first turn around. This made it very clear! Thank you!
Thank you, Michael. I, too, stayed away from this stitch but with the help of your video I think I'll like it now. Your video is very easy to understand. Thanks again and have a wonderful cruise. I wish I could go.
