Critical Influencer Shames Others Including Herself | Chicago Med

Ойын-сауық

A critical influencer is too afraid to talk as she fears she has Vitiligo and will be judged online. When Dr. Reese takes the case and scans her skin she finds her patient merely has a yeast infection.
Season 2 Episode1 "Soul Care"
Dr. Manning and Dr. Halstead treat a pregnant patient from a car accident and are forced to perform an emergency cesarean on her. Meanwhile, Dr. Choi adjusts to his new role as Chief Emergency Resident, Dr. Reese accepts a psychiatry residency offer from Dr. Charles, and Dr. Rhodes is introduced to his new superior, Dr. Latham, who informs him he wasn't his first choice. Also, Dr. Manning and new medical student Jeff Clarke connect, which infuriates Dr. Halstead.

    This was a pretty realistic representation of sadness or depression when it comes to teenage beauty standards. Also the way she said she didn't know wether she wanted to kill herself or not. A lot of depressed people doesn't really want to "die" they just want the bad things in their lives to go away. I'm depressed and don't want to die at all, but it's the only way out of the life I've been given.

    Having been suicidal myself.. it is not the only way, it is the only way you are able to see at the moment.. not the same thing:) Someone once said, if you feel there is no way out, close your eyes, and remember the good. It is hard at first, but a pretty flower, a smile, a funny kitten.. more personal memories? Remember the good, it tends to drown in misery, but it matters, best wishes:)

    I'm going to leave this here, but the older generation had a significant impact on how these beauty standards came to be. Millenials were ingrained with the idea that image is everything. You have to dress like this, look like that, always be on your best at any time. I've lived it myself. I couldn't even wear what I wanted when going to the shop with my mom. She never admitted it but when I wasn't dressed like she wanted, she was just embarassed. I loved some clothes in my closet and wore them when wanting to be comfortable. She hated it and always pushed me to wear the newest things out, especially when with her. She doesn't understand how she much she contributed to my bad self image and appearance issues. I feel like I'm not allowed to be who I want to be.

    Even the vitiligo-thing turned out to be false, the fear of any kind of skin or body modifiyng sickness can be really depressing. I have vitiligo. It started when i was 8 after a pretty rough sickness. It did not hurt, but it was visible and many others who dont know any about this condition mocked and even hurt me because of it. I was ashamed and and spend most of my teenage years in full, body hiding clothes, which high insecurities what i still had. Now i look at it and said it not that so bad. Now its not spreading anymore, not hurt, not infectious, i just need to be careful with the sun.But it showed me how people can be cruel and stupid and hurt another one, juts because they're different.

    I completely relate to this and being almost 15 with multiple suicide attempts, being a teenager is the hardest thing I spent hours trying to look good just to get a good picture, but no matter how much you try to be perfect you realise you can’t be, I went through Ed’s have a skin condition with is also incurable but it’s all about fighting through it and trying, after years I finally love myself and feel good. For anyone who’s going through the same you’re so strong keep going❤️

  • @mht4908

    @mht4908

    I think it's important for adults and especially parents to acknowledge that what they perceive to be the little things can greatly impact a teenager's life. Taking a good picture may seem like nothing to an adult in the workforce, but that's really important to a teen because that's what they're exposed to a lot in school. I'm 21 and have also attempted suicide a couple times (for a different reason), just want to tell you that you're a very tough person and you made the right decision to keep going. In my eyes, it's impossible to be perfect, because it's the little imperfections from each individual that makes us unique. You never know when while you're striving to be like someone you know, someone else may also be striving to look like you. This applies in society too, it's the imperfections and mistakes that help us become better and stronger. Good luck, and I hope through this journey you become stronger and are able to find your happiness within yourself 💜
