The ronaldo-messi debate was never really a thing after 2012 tbh like say what you want about ronaldo in the champions league messi set a calendar year goald record that nobody has came within 20 goals of since 2000 in that year and also became the only ever player to achieve while also being the only ever player to achieve 100+goal contributions in that year and after that point sustained injuries which took him out of his absolute prime and was still better than CR7 most years at 80% of that. The only reason there was even any debate is because the champions league where ronalso has only won 1 more than messi and any debate shouldve been definitively closed by the world cup this year its not saying ronaldo isn't great hes in the pele and maradona tier but messi has a tier to his own above that.
