Criss Cross Paint Pattern with Plaster Relief | Decorative Painting
As a master faux painter I enjoy creating new ways to do faux finishes or taking traditional faux painting and making it easier. First I randomly put plaster(you can use joint compound too) on the walls with Putty Knife and used artificial palm leaves with the pointed bottom of a chip brush handle to make the plants.
After dry I sealed with a paint primer, and based coated to match the wall, then used a antique copper glaze(added little burnt umber to tone the copper down) to make the criss cross paint effect.
The metallic paint is good at showing every stroke because of the way the shiny metallic paint catches the light. I applied the criss cross pattern with a chip brush. Afterwards dry brushed gold over plaster relief to highlight. Links below of the materials I used.
