Crispy and Flavorful Veg Kola urundai - A South Indian Delight

Ingredients:
- 2 large raw bananas
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 10 small onions
- 4 large garlic cloves
- 4 dried red chilies
- 2 sprigs curry leaves
- 3 green chilies
- 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 4 tablespoons Bengal gram (chana dal)
- 3 tablespoons grated coconut
#### Instructions:
1. *Prepare the Raw Bananas*:
- Cut the raw bananas in half and place them in a pressure cooker.
- Add enough water to cover the bananas and ½ teaspoon of salt.
- Cook for 2 whistles. Allow the pressure to release naturally.
2. *Prepare the Masala*:
- Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan.
- Add 10 small onions, 4 large garlic cloves, 4 dried red chilies, and 2 sprigs of curry leaves.
- Sauté until the onions turn golden brown.
- Add 3 green chilies, 1 teaspoon fennel seeds, ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder, and ½ teaspoon salt.
- Add 4 tablespoons Bengal gram (chana dal) and continue to sauté.
- Finally, add 3 tablespoons of grated coconut and mix well. Turn off the flame.
- Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then grind it into a coarse paste in a mixer without adding water.
3. *Combine and Shape*:
- Peel the boiled bananas and mash them well.
- Add the prepared masala paste to the mashed bananas and mix thoroughly.
- Shape the mixture into small balls.
4. *Deep Fry*:
- Heat oil in a deep pan for frying.
- Fry the balls in hot oil for about 3 minutes, or until they turn golden brown.
Your delicious and traditional Veg Kolavundai is now ready to serve!
