"Cripple Creek" on Cedar Creek...

In this video you can see how I built a mountain dulcimer out of a kit from Cedar Creek Dulcimers, Branson MO. The music I play on it is the traditional song "Cripple Creek".
I bought a kit for the "Red Meadow" model and with the help from friends I could realize some "extras":
- top and back made of solid maple
- "double back" (similar to "Galax" dulcimers) made of spruce
- bowxood viola pegs instead of the geared guitar tuners
- boxwood endpins
- nut and saddle made of maple instead of the plastic nut and saddle provided
I am very happy with the result and with the sound and sustain of my "Cedar Creek"!

Vom ursprünglichen Kit sind noch das Kopfstück, die Zargen und das Griffbrett übriggeblieben... :D Mit einer guten Dekupiersäge und einem ordentlichen Bandschleifer ließen sich wohl auch diese Teile noch selbst produzieren. Aber es spart enorm Zeit, wenn die Dinge schon vorbereitet sind, für die man "schweres Gerät" braucht...
Thank you, Igor. Yes, I have heard of PegHeds. But I wanted this Instrument to be very basic, traditional and low-tech. These viola pegs (a little bigger than violin pegs) are not so easy to handle as geared tuners are - but once they're in tune, they hold the tuning very well!
Ja, hoffentlich Torsten - du warst ja auch schon oft genug dort! Ich hoffe aber, du hast auch den Linolboden und das Wachstuch aus unserem Hobbykeller wiedererkannt! :)

Great tone! Is the idea for the double back: more vibration from the spruce and more structural stability from the maple?
