Ok for today, we are going to crimp some connectors.
I have noticed that some of you are not at ease soldering wires, so let me show you another way.
It should be simple, but at the same time, it can be a daunting task.
In my line of work, we have to do many types of connectors, some are easy, some are difficult.
So I have chosen a JST connector, for things like the fans, thermistor, low powered stuff, I would not use it for the heathers, you will need a bigger connector, like some Molex use on a computer power supply.
But the principles are the same; it’s only the connector and the crimp tool that changes.
Let’s look at what I have chosen to show you. And the links will be available in the description of this video.
If you did not notice, I like tools, and to have the correct tool for the job.

Hi, I'm Frank my channel is all about 3D printing. I can't get enough of my 3D printer. I make everything and anything out of 3D filament (PLA, PETG and more). As I say a printer that is not printing is a missed opportunity.
I'll be doing electronics, mechanics, computer engineering, DIY, reviews and tutorials.
I update twice a week on Tuesday and Saturdays.
Subscribe to my channel, and don't forget to turn on notifications.

Nice work Frank, Yes soldering is the way to go. Takes a further learning experience. Not plug and play but worth learning.

Thank you for sharing. I have been looking for an instruction for these connectors. It makes sense to use them in some cases. What kind of diameter would you recommend for the wires. I want to buy some wires for a printer upgrade. And I have no clue what to buy. You are talking about a different kind of connector for higher currents. What kind of connector is that exactly?

If you really want to know the current rating of connectors, you have to go to the manufacturer specs, generally the more surface area the more current, same with the cables they are rated for a certain amount of current depending on the diameter of the cable. There are many charts for that it is also dependent on the lenght, but in a printer that should not matter. I also found that crimpers with laser cut teeth works better like this one : amzn.to/32cSLP1
