According to a zookeeper there though, he said it’s because people were getting riled up, which provoked Harambe causing him to drag the child to intimidate everyone. Because Gorrillas apparently like to make loud displays like that to get attention or scare anyone or anything bothering or scaring them. That wasn’t him carrying his “offspring” most likely.

If the child was being dragged so violently, why didn't he have foot, ankle, or leg fractures or injuries? His concussion was from the dragging but the gorilla would not understand that as a hazard. He knew the arm and leg bones were fragile that is why when he was saving the child the second time he decided to drag him by his shirt. He should have been Tranquilized not killed. This is very interesting. I dont think Harambe had the capacity to think the child would be injured if he dragged him across the water. But it is interesting how theres been two cases i know of, of when a child has fallen into a gorilla's inclosure and both times, they didnt really kill the child or intentionally harm them but checked if they had skin under their clothes. I thinks that sends a powerful message. Maybe they are just checking if we are one of them?

I'm in total awe of the hypocrisy and holier than thou comments regarding this situation. First off, it's unfortunate that something like this had to happen, BUT, accidents happen and when they do, we have to do the best we "know" how in order to deal with them. Unless you were there, no one should be condemning the mother about what happened, without all the facts being known....(stop with all the holier than thou attitudes as if you are exempt from the "unexpected happening to you and your loved ones"). Second, as sad as it was to have to lose the precious life of an endangered gorilla, how many of those protesting, crying, and complaining about the gorilla's death, do the same for the "precious" lives being lost everyday over matters less serious? Judge righteous judgment! Simply put - a child's life was in danger. What if it was your child they were trying to save? No one could say for certain what the gorilla would have done next. They had to react quickly, using the tools they had on hand,..... while at the same time considering the child. Mourn the unwanted lost of the gorilla, but thank God for the life of the child.

“Accident’s happen” sure, but the stupid mother who let this happen in the first place is dumb. Your acting like an accident of this severity is normal, but it isn’t. The bystanders are also to blame as they didn’t even think about stopping the child from climbing. If I was there, I would stop the child from climbing. Finally, your saying that the gorilla isn’t as equal in worth as a child? They both are equal as they both help with the environment. A fix could’ve happened without shooting the gorilla.

Animal rights activists keep voicing out and fighting for animals every now and then. And if my child was there I wouldn't have let him go in the first place in a wild animal's enclosure. And the gorilla was there for a whole 10 minutes with the child. They couldn't tranquilise it at all but just wait more to shoot it. And the gorilla didn't look like it wanted to attack the child. He was disturbed because of people throwing stones and screaming so he thought if protecting the child.

The concussion was caused by him falling probs, he adjusted to his shirt, and used his body as a shield from the crowd (as he did not know the situation), and instead of hurting him he attempts to switch to the shirt which applies less harm instead of pulling his arm/leg. Not to mention, Harambe could have been traquilized, as in several photos before his death, he carried the boy out of the moat and into his habitat where people had clear view of him. And again he was infront of the child, and not pounding on him.

It’s definitely both the parents and the bystanders fault, if the parents kept an actual eye on their child this wouldn’t have happened, and if the people had remained more calm instead of screaming like maniacs it also would have been different, when there is an animal that can be dangerous, screaming is only going to scare it, and this was the result of that, it most certainly could have been handled much better. Those parents should not be parents at all if they let this happen to their kid. It’s so irresponsible

Don't mean this in a bad way but depends on how big or serious or dangerous the situation is, in a zoo they normally tell you face to face or by leaflets or a board to keep your child by your side. My late father no matter weather we where going to get groceries, or down the road to school. He always held my hand.... Groceries would go in his backpack so his hand was free to hold mine. A lady me & my dad knew asked my dad if it was ok for me to have her baby for afew hours, my dad said ok as it was only 3-5hours & only did it 5/6times & wasn't going to affect my college education. I did excalty what my dad did to me & taught this 2years old to never let go of my hand when outdoors. Indoors my late grandmother taught me never to take my eyes off her (that is at times difficult the younger the child when your a busy parent.) I work with children & even with some children saftey gates are easy to try to climb over depending on their skills, weight, strength, and how clever they maybe... if they are doing more then crawling. For last few years children are alot stronger even very young ones... He was only 3years old she should have been holding on to his hand end of story. You don't need to be a parent to know or education it's common sense that we see all the time and if there is no common sense in a an issue we see bad consequences. This lady wasn't a 16year old spoilt teenager, she's an adult & knew that gorillla's are dangerous. She knows her son can climb everywhere, & there where gaps near them. How long was she not looking at him? I understand if it was for afew second's but on this video when they explained before the boy actually fell from such a height. He had to be climb down on uneven parts.... So while he was doing this & even if he was fast it would take him abit of time, if she turned around after afew second's she would have seen him she only saw him when he started to fall. Obviously if you've not had a child you will not know, what it feels like to be a parent. This is not about feelings or experiening parenthood, it's about saftey of a child and weather it's your's or your babysitting you have to be protective & not stick a child right into such an high level of danger specially with animals around. Your eyes need to be glued & keep making conversation with them or just hold their hand very firmly. Weather they like it or not & keep teaching them to stay by your side.

OMG!!! Parents can never win!! This is sad that an endangered beast is dead but what would have been worse for the child to die or the gorilla? If this had been the other way around would anyone be protesting justice for this poor curious child? Given the risk I would have shot the poor gorilla, I would not have risked a tranquilliser shot with an already injured child. He had already fallen 15ft and was dragged about . I'm sorry but at that point my only concern would be the human life!!!! Blaming the parents is complete yet irrelevant to the fact that a human life was at risk and the risk was removed
