Crime and Punishment: Music for reading Dostoevsky
“Above all, don't lie to yourself. The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others.” - Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

Woke up from a long sleep. He yawned, stretched, and at last opened his eyes completely. For two minutes, however, he lay in his bed without moving, as though he were not yet quite certain whether he were awake or still asleep, whether all that was going on around him were real and actual, or the continuation of his confused dreams.

Dostoyevsky jumpscare lol
There's never been a perfect cinematic rendition of Dostoevsky's masterpiece for obvious reasons, given the novel's psychological emphasis, yet still, I yearn to see a quality rendition of the Russian classic, with romantic era pieces to serve as its haunting score...

Hey, you've got to watch Norte, the End of History by Lav Diaz which is based on Crime and Punishment. The film is an epic!!!

It's not just for reading Dostoevsky. It makes the news much better.
28:49 scared me to death
34:53 the fact that i was reading Marmeladov's end of speech when this played, as he talked about being crucified. I'd say that was an immaculate timing.

The music of darkwood, a horror game, always reminds me of crime n punishmeng
"Pero divago demasiado. He aquí por qué no hago nada: Porque divago.
Love that I found this! "Crime and Punishment" is my favorite novel !
the first paragraphs of this novels are so beautifully written, even a child can understand them
After reading The Idiot and Notes from Underground I think a longer mix is needed 50minutes is over quickly when reading
Darn, I wish I found this video before I finished!

So he lay a very long while. Now and then he seemed to wake up, and at such moment he noticed that it was far into the night, but it did not occur to him to get up
Awful title for such a nice playlist. If you listen to any music while reading Dostoevsky, then you're clouding a crystal-clear water
❤
While i was reading the killin and escaping scene the music went crazy and i blow up that was really good i feel like i am the murderer
The music is great, but I couldn't read with it. 🤷🏽♀️🤗♥️♥️
im listening to this because im a broke and failing law student. rather than reading crime and punishment perhaps better to live it. 😀
