Cricut just announced an exciting new product that is going to change how you make T-shirts, totebags, coasters, and more! If you’ve ever been frustrated at how iron-on vinyl (HTV) doesn’t seem to be as durable as you’d like, Cricut Infusible Ink changes all that. Cricut Infusible Ink is an all-new product that gives us commercial-level, permanent heat-transfer effects with rich color that is peel-proof, flake-proof, and wash-proof.
So, are you ready to learn more? Let’s look more closely at how Cricut Infusible Ink actually works! This post contains some affiliate links for your convenience (which means if you make a purchase after clicking a link I will earn a small commission but it won’t cost you a penny more)! Read my full disclosure policy.
HOW CRICUT INFUSIBLE INK WORKS:
STEP 1: Choose a Cricut Infusible Ink-compatible blank, such as a T-shirt, baby bodysuit/onesie, tote bag, or ceramic coaster (those are the blanks I know of now-there should be more later!)
STEP 2: Pick your Cricut Infusible Ink transfer sheets - there are both solid colors and patterns to choose from!
STEP 3: Make your design in Cricut Design Space
Cut your design out on the Cricut Infusible Ink transfer sheet using a Cricut cutting machine (Explore, Joy or Maker)
STEP 4: Use the heat from an EasyPress 2 to transfer the design on the blank - your heat source needs to get up to at least 390°F for the heat transfer to work.
STEP 5: The ink is then infused into the surface - it is not an adhesive that melts onto the surface like iron-on vinyl (HTV). Unlike an iron-on transfer or vinyl application, where image is stuck to the top of a base material using an adhesive of some sort, an Infusible Ink heat transfer becomes one with the material itself. That’s why it works so well!

You have got to be the best, most thorough teacher of Cricut products! I love how you test things, I appreciate you. You are amazing! I love all of your tutorials.
I am so new to cricut and i just got my machine. And a friend of mine told me to watch your videos. And I’m so thankful I listened.
Thank you so much for being honest with your viewers. You have no idea how much I appreciate it! It sucks when I'm watching a video and I'm seen as someone just to make money off ☺️
I love that you do these tests! It's much more valuable than someone just doing a simple tutorial. I'd encourage you to add more of your mistakes to your normal videos. If even YOU make mistakes, then we're going to make them, too. It'd be nice to see how you work thru them.
You’re by far one of my favorite crafters! Love your videos, and how informative they are. I always look forward to your next tutorials.
thank you for sharing! you are the only blogger thus far to share the actual products!! i was so confused until seeing this!
Jennifer thank you so much for this video. I just bought my first infusible Ink transfer paper and was so nervous but you made it look so easy and after watching your video I successfully made a shirt for Christmas.
I still come back to this video to watch it over and over from time to time. I learn something different every time. Thanks again for sharing your gift and love of crafting.

Thanks for doing this test! You're amazing, appreciate all your videos. 💕. And I thought the live format went great.
Hi Jennifer! I really enjoy your videos. I am especially thankful for you always going the extra mile and test so many different options. Like comparing EasyPress I and II. You are really helping people figure out how to be successful without spending a fortune! Keep up the great work and thank you again! -Chadwick Smith Atlanta, GA
I love your personality Jennifer! You are very inspiring!
Thank you for the video, really glad that you post these for those who can't make it to the live. I have all the materials, just waiting for the Easy Press
This video was extremely helpful. I have had my Cricut Maker for almost a month and I just bought the Easypress 2. I can't wait to get started making all kinds of fun things, just in time for the holidays!

You are so..............awesome!!!! Thank you for the test!!! Can't wait until the next tutorial.
Thank you so much for this comparison. I am so excited that I will be able to use the infusible ink with great results and not have to go out and purchase a new easy press 2. Looking forward to more of your tests.
I have watched several of the videos yours by far is the best you truly went step by step and it was wonderful
Thank you so much for all the tutorials and testing the original Easypress with the Infusible ink. I have the first Easypress and I’m just about to make my first Infusible ink shirt. I’m so happy I can get the same results with a little extra time on the Easypress I have! You are awesome!

Jennifer 5hank you so much , you are the only one I saw that this with the original easy press, which is what I have .👍😊
This test saves me from the expense of purchasing a Cricut Easy Press 2.
Thank you for doing this video so we can see how this new ink from Cricut works! So very helpful. I have learned so much from you. Wish I had looked for you when I first got my Cricut. Maybe my cover sheet for my mat would not be cut like a heart! Lol 🤭
A great way for me to learn. loved the video and will be a regular. Thanks for all the tips.
Thank you! Your instructions are so clear! I appreciate you!
Thanks for the video! I have the original press and glad to hear it works!
Some have said to bend a corner down to get it to "crack" to peel back. Not sure if that would be easier or not. Thanks for this testing Jennifer! I am anxious to see what other blanks this will work on besides Cricut blanks. Greg was an awesome helper to you as well! Can't wait to see what you do next with this Infusible ink! Thanks Jennifer! Hugs, Brenda
I missed the live version, but appreciate that it is on KZread. Also, love the "missteps". That's how we learn!

Thank you so much for testing this!! I really don't want to have to get another easy press because I got the easy press 1 for Christmas and think it would be crazy to get another one...
Thank you, Jennifer, Great tutorial. I noticed that Amazon sells shirts that are 95% polyester 5 % spandex in all sizes. I also saw some that were 100% polyester.
OMG thank you so much Jennifer you are awesome!
Thank you SO much for doing side by side test with both original easy press and easy press 2. I would love to see the difference on the coasters with both easy presses too.
Jennifer, I really enjoy you and your videos. It's like visiting a friend.
Thank you very much for this video. It helped me understand infusible ink. Your instructions are clear. I appreciate your honesty and explaining your mistakes. I need am easy press. TFS
Thank you so much! I loved this tutorial/comparison. So very helpful. I bought infusible ink and was afraid I’d have to wait until I could get an easy press 2. Now I don’t!
Thanks for the tutorial, Jennifer. Not thrilled with having to use polyester t-shirts with the infused ink. We have horrible heat & humidity in Central Texas during our overly long summer and polyester doesn’t breathe like cotton. Guess I will do winter t-shirts with this product. Disappointed with this limitation.

This is because Infusible Inks are a form of sublimation ink, and sublimation inks only work with high-polyester or polymer-based products. It's just the nature of this technology. That said, I hear you about polyester -- I also prefer cotton. But we can make things besides shirts, so I'm still interested!

Guess, I’ll forget about infusible inks, except for coasters. I knew there was a good reason for hating to wear polyester & spandex because I hate how it feels on my skin. Thanks for the feedback.

@@lorbrn I would NEVER have been interested in polyester. But please check out the Cricut blanks....the feel of the fabric is lovely. I could hardly believe it and I live in South Mississippi so humidity and heat are part of life. Maybe you could test it out. The product is fantastic.

You can use it on a lower count polyester no lower than 50%... the lower the polyester the more vintage it will look after washing. Will not be as vibrant but does still keep alot of the ink.
Great comparison! Thank you!
Thanks Jennifer, good video test. 😊
Jennifer, thanks so much for testing using both the Easy Press 2 and the original Easy Press. I have the original and had been feeling unsure about whether to get excited about infusible ink. Now I know I'll be able to play, hurrah! Torrid has Sophie swing camis that are polyester and I'm dying to cut Anna Griffin medallion shapes to repeat in a line down the center. Just gotta wait for the ivory to come back in my size :-)
Thank you soooo much for this comparison!! I have the original easy press and was totally bummed when I heard so many other youtubers say that results would not be as vibrant with the original press (without testing them together). I would very much like to see a video with the original press on both types of coasters. YOU ROCK JENNIFER!! 🙋🏻😍😘💜💕 TFS
We love that you make mistakes, it makes us feel better about ours. We respect your talent and love that you are real!!
your simply amazing! Been following you from the beginning ...and a shout out to Greg:)
I totally had other plans for today. But I've been wanting to try the Infusible Ink and I wanted to check out this video before I buy anything. I'm so glad I did. I have things to move on to.... but in my que I see another video that you have made since this one. I may have to go check that out first. Also... I want to see the markers in use as well!

Wonderful! 😃
I have a gadget that measures the temperature of articles when you point it at it. I tested my small travel iron and the temperature at the highest setting was 400 degrees Fahrenheit!! It seemed to be the same all over and it would be interesting to try it on a small design. However, I have a steam press though I haven't tested the temperatures on that yet though the manufacturers say it goes up to 428 degrees! Worth a try since I can't afford an Easy Press at the moment. Brilliant experiment and I was amazed at the colour vibrancy with both tests. Thank you!
Thank You Jennifer! I only have the original EasyPress and wanted to know if I could use it with Infusible Ink. You have answered my question!! Thank You!

Does anyone know what applique is? I know it is an extra step but you can put you image on the proper material seam the edges and the applique to your cotton material.
I am excited to use all the new infusible items cricut is coming out with , wonder if making a plague with the infusible ink would work ?

This reminds me of sublimation. I think it’s great for home crafting though. 👍🏼
Can you use with heat presses?like the clam shell and such.

Hi! Thank you! Your videos are always so informative! I'm hoping you or someone can assist! I'm experiencing a lot of moisture coming from my heat press and pad. I think it may be the reason why my transfers are dull. Any suggestions? Should I try a different mat? Or, maybe a lower heat setting for a longer period of time?

Moisture coming from your easy press? You might want to contact Cricut.com/help
Jennifer that was a great tutorial. I know you didn't get a chance to use all the new tools. My question is how do the pens/markers come into play? Is it safe to assume that with all the different transfer sheets, there must be some plain white that would allow you to upload your own design and then color in with the pens/markers. This is what I would love to see in an upcoming tutorial on these fun new products.
Very demo, including yours, uses the Easy Press. Can you use a regular, household iron to use these Infusible Ink products? Thanks for the video. I always appreciate your thorough teaching.
@JenniferMaker
5 жыл бұрын
You cannot use a regular household iron with Infusible Ink, as it needs to get hotter than what most irons can do and it needs to maintain that temperature precisely and consistently. That said, I will still experiment when I have some more transfer sheets to play with. :)
I am going to be purchasing a painted stainless steel travel mug from amazon. I am going to be applying some vinyl to it. Do I need to seal the vinyl in order to protect it?? The travel mug is hot/cold. Please help!!

Great video, lots of info. My laser thermometer only goes so high so will not tell me hot hot my iron is. Also can you breathe through the transfer ink fabric. I want to print on face mask with this ink.

If you are using a regular household iron, Sharon, it won't get hot enough for the ink to transfer properly! You need to have either a Cricut Easy Press or a heat press to get the correct temperature of 390 degrees! 😉🥰

Will infusible ink be added to your cricut coach book as well?
A tip: the swatch of fabric is to be used to wipe any of the ceramic or glass items you are planning to use.
Jennifer saw a tutorial using a used transfer it worked but it was much lighter looked faded...so I guess it works as a second generation if your looking for an aged look
I know this sounds dumb, but what are blanks? I'm just about to order my first ever Cricut and I don't know anything! Excited to learn and thankful I found you!

Blanks are blank t-shirts
Thanks for the comparison. I have the original easypress and don’t want to invest to the 2 if I don’t have too. This crafting gets expensive. I had a cricut imagine, but sold it just prior to the line being discontinued & when they came out with the expression 2. I invested in the brother scan n cut 2 650 since I also do quilting & comes preloaded with designs, but use the cricut easypress .
Jo Ann's Fabric has it also already
So I’m interested if you have a 100% polyester if it would work because the bag is 100% polyester?? Seems like you could use it if it has the same content?
Thank you Jennifer, for your tutorial, Is my first time using infusible ink and the easy press mini, you are correct infusible ink does not work in black material.

wow....good tip on the foil ball!!! so i have a question...can the infusible ink work on sublimation car coasters? Just trying to understand the terms infusible and sublimation. I'm thinking sublimation is the material and that infusible ink can work. ty
@JenniferMaker

Yes, you are correct! ❤️
Do we know how much a box of transfer sheet will be?
I'm little confused I see you need laser copy paper and machine draws what we want drawn my question is after it's drawn on laser paper then do we need to turn over the image to where the heat press heat seats it because it looks different when I've watched few others do this back side is blank and it looks like they don't put the image face down on the shirt so ink touches it
