Creo Parametric - Dimension Boundaries | Tolerance Analysis

Ғылым және технология

This Creo Parametric tutorial shows how to use the Dimension Boundaries command to apply the upper, lower, middle, and nominal values of a dimension's tolerances. This actually changes model geometry and mass properties and can be used to examine worst case tolerances.

It's been pretty well buried since the Tolerance Analysis Extension debuted in Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0. But after someone mentioned it at the PTC winter conference, I went looking for it after not having used it in years.

Hy Dave! I really appreciate your videos. They are very helpful. Please can you also prepare a video about balancing of parts? (Dynamic balancing) Thanks in advance & looking forward for new videos!!

Probably not, given that I don't have any experience in dynamic balancing...

Great. Please add a demonstration on tolerance analysis icon link as well.

Hi Dave Love the videos! All - Is there a option in SW that can achieve the same function as Dimension Boundaries? Apologies for using the S word in a Creo video ;)

I don't know if SolidWorks can do that. And I don't mind saying SolidWorks as I make SolidWorks comparison videos on this channel. I also administered SolidWorks at Amazon and administer it in my current job.

Hello sir. Can I ask you a question about 'tolerance analysis' within Creo (/Sigmetrix)? What is the different between the tolerance analysis within the Analysis tab & the 'tolerance analysis extension' in the Application tab of the integrated Sigmetrix's applications (EZtol & CeTol)?

I think the easy answer is that the one in the Analysis tab is the 1D offering that came out in Wildfire 4.0 and the Applications tab is the full 3D extended analysis that leverages more of the Sigmetrix functionality, but you're better off asking your PTC representative for details.

Doesn't seem like this feature works with GTol, so I'm not sure how much time this would really save me

As with most things, your mileage may vary. I’m just trying to show you tools that are available.

Dimension boundaries is not the right tool to perform tolerance analysis. It doesnt differentiate the concept of a hole and rod. A better tool is gtol advisor and ez tol analysis. Though it would be nice if you can compare ez tol vs Sigmetrix cetol 6 sigma. Or even better, if you can get a hold of Siemens VSA vs Cetol
