Easy to get in, tricky to get out, some make it, some don't... Mechanical carnage is never fun when its happening to you, but its part of the game. The RZR had tobe started after the hydro lock as the only way to get a machine out of where we were riding is to drive it out under its own power. For those that don't know, "hydro locking" is when fluid is drawn through the intake and into the combustion chamber. Fluids cannot be compressed, causing the piston to "lock".

    i hydro locked my brute force 3 years ago. I pull the plugs cranked all the water out and cleaned the crank case out with marvel oil and kerosen 2 or 3 times and then put straight oil in in and it might even run better now lol!

    A secret. On the first oil change use diesel fuel. Turn it over for 10 sec then drain as fast as possible. It won't catch fire, don't worry. It does drain very fast taking more water with it in the process. Diesel is an oil not a gas. It has lubricative properties. Cuts the amount of changes in half . Ps. Change filter after about 2 miles of running. Filter will remove water to. Don't mean to come across as a know it all but I play in water a lot.

    "Diesel is an oil not a gas" This is not true, they are both petroleum based products and both have lubrication properties. I will agree to never put gas in your oil though.

    @@Ken-zd4pv True they are both petroleum products, but diesel behaves more as a lubricant than a solvent when compared to gasoline. Case in point go compare the ground around a diesel fuel pump to a gasoline fuel pump at a fuel station. You won't see any "oil" residue around the gas pumps from spilled gas like you see around all the diesel pumps from spilled diesel.

    Glad you enjoyed it! Ya, you can visibly tell the benefits of the improved suspension, ground clearance, and extended wheelbase of the new RZR XP 1000. Polaris did a great job improving an already awesome machine. Now we have to wait and see how the changes hold up in the long run. The Blue RZR 900 sucked up water when the Maverick tugged on him. He was on the throttle when he was getting tugged and the intake was submerged leading to the engine taking in water and consequently hydro locking.

    if its not done already, should really look into getting the rzr snorkeled......as then it wouldn't be an issue with the water.

    That doesn't look like hydro lock though. That's when bad things happen and often the valves bend or worse, a rod (like mine). Not a good feeling being too deep though - looks sketchy! Glad it appears to be happy again.

    Just like the RZR XP 900 did in the first 5 seconds of the video or the RZR XP 1000 did in the last part of the video. Most of the time it's the drivers of the side by sides that make it look easily regardless of the brand.

    What is hydro locking?

  • @AdrenalineJunkieProd

    @AdrenalineJunkieProd

    8 жыл бұрын

    +gravellesimon Hey, great question! Hydro locking is when an engine sucks in water through the intake and fills the cylinder with that water, either partially or fully. When the piston goes up and tries to compress the water then the fluid does not compress and it stops the engine. Hence the term Hydro-Lock. A hydro lock usually causes severe internal damage. Arguably, even if it is not a severe Hydro-Lock that engine is most likely never going to be the same. Often shortly after a Hydro-Lock an engine will begin to burn oil and blow blue smoke. In a severe situation, such as, high RPM and high load Hydro-Locking you can actually snap the connecting rod on the piston or even blow a hole in the block. There are many variables and no two situations are identical. This engine suffered serious internal damage. If you watch more of our videos pay attention to how much this RZR smokes. Amazingly it still runs great and has great power but it burns about 500-1000ml of oil on an all day ride. It needs to be rebuilt any ways so the owner has just chosen to see how long it holds together. Thanks for watching, check out some of the other videos. - AdrenalineJunkieProd

    Ya, mud is not their domain. The kind of mixed riding we do makes it hard to swap over to "mud" specific tire as they usually suck on anything hard packed. The big horns and similar tires don't do well in the thick stuff but all around they are a great tire. I am a big fan of the STI Black Diamonds, they are hard to beat for an "all-terrain"
