Then we discovered component stereo for the house and could record our own cassettes that we listened to while out 4 wheelin' or climbing hills. Damn that was fun and expensive. Then that foul condition known as marriage set in and ruined everything. And sadly the 1st thing to go was yer friends. From what I heard, this was recorded when they were 'The Golliwogs' and got some airplay. Then included on the first album as CCR. Credence was a childhood friend, Clearwater for the 'new' environmental movement and Revival for the spirituality of the music. Or so they said.

Dick Clark asked John Fogerty why, considering the great songs he had written, was Suzy Q the first single CCR released. John said that when they formed the Golliwogs in high school Suzy Q was the first song they learned together. So they decided to make it their first single because they had been playing it longer than anything else.

I am hearing this and I am 13 at the Church dance (in the basement!) with someone spinning 45s! We are teeny boppers and dancing The "SuzieQ" dance that went along with this song!! Say 1966/68?? I am 70 now, but this song lives in my brain!!

Memorial Day special for the armed forces would be nice....Barry Sadler Green Beret song. The album holds memories of feelings. It was about what was going on in our life. His story after this album seems bazaar..shot Lee Bellamy singer/songwriter/manager?, worked doing medical care to impoverished in Guatamala, arms selling .. Barry was shot in the head , story was it was an attempted robbery, some say attempted assassination . But his album at that time in history ....

I worked depot maintenance on F15 Eagles at Robins AFB. We used to play LOUD rock music in the hangar. Our Division manager was a woman whose first name was Sue. When they would hold tail team meetings on the corridor down the middle of the hangar behind the jet we played this for her. She always laughed. Those were some good times.

That sound at the end of the guitar solo when he asked "what is that?" Is a technique called feedback assist sustain. It's where the feedback from the guitar pickups and the amp when pointed at eachother makes feedback that can change the pitch and make the notes sustain longer and causes the sound to break up and decay. Thats how great guitarist get those screeches and squaks and crazy noises to come out of their guitars. John Fogerty was one of the original masters and pioneers of guitar tones and techniques.
