I'm happy to see you post a song like this. Simply because a steady eighth note bass groove is essential to the song/groove. It kills me when people say Stu Cook was not a good bass player. When I taught bass this was a song some students pointed to as proof of his lack of chops. Those poor misguided fools. A crap bassist would have overplayed the hell out of a tune like this. One student said, just imagine what Geddy Lee could have done with a song like this? Well guess what, he would have laid back also because the bass needs to serve the song. John Fogerty would have voiced his displeasure immediately had Stu overplayed. But he didn't, because he was a pro and seasoned pros don't overplay simple songs. A bunch of notes are not required, nor desired in a song like this. It's not about how many notes you play. It's all about the groove. Playing too many notes is like saying, this guy must be a genius because he never stops talking 😂 I'm thrilled that a bass player of your caliber would post a song like this. But then again, you're a seasoned pro, so you appreciate its simplicity, drive, and groove. And how it serves the song 💙

Well said! And it's not like Stu couldn't play something more advanced. Just listen to "Born to Move".

@@PatNetherlander Thank You Pat. I'm thrilled to know there are still some musical dinosaurs out there like myself. Be well, and keep playing that rock and roll.
Im wieder klasse was man hier geboten bekommt.
Awesome. It's so easy (& awfully tempting) as a Bass player to overplay certain pieces but that's some solid consistency right there brother. Straight to the point minimalism. Well done. 👍
Good stuff, thanks for the new song Tom!
Thanks, this helped me to play along to the Battledroid Ai Version. Man, its amazing (and scary) at the same Time into what rabbithole you can fall in here (Ai Covers, and thinking, oh i should be also able to jam along). And Bang, 2 Replay later on this video i could do it, AND have done my "at least 10 Minutes of Trainig every day!" Task. Thank you Internet!
Fantastic job Tom , banging bassline 👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥 would u kindly tab Billy Oceans Caribbean Queen please 🙏
