I use to listen to this song, all the time, when my wife and I found out we were going to have a child. He's 20 years old now. Where does the time go.
Lead singer Scott Stapp wrote this song after finding out he was going to be a father. He had a son named Jagger.

My parents told me they played With Arms Wide Open the day the came home from hospital with me as a newborn
This song came out when my first born son was a baby. The line “ I hope he’s not like me” hit hard because I have a lot of demons I hoped he could avoid. And “I don’t know if I’m ready to be the man I have to be.” Great song that still hits me hard. As him as a young man now helping me cook Easter dinner today I realize, mission accomplished. Thank you for doing this.

Good job my friend!
Attended the Grammys years ago and had a chance to meet Scott Stapp. He spent about 10 minutes asking about our kids and talking about family. He was very nice to spend the time.
I agree with you Asia. I don't think Creed has gotten enough credit. Great song and great reaction.
Song reminds me of when my son Zachary was born, and I used to listen to it with him all the time when he was a baby!! I still tear up!!!! ❤❤❤❤

It's not very fashionable these days to be a Creed fan, but as a die-hard '80s Metal-Head I freely admit I appreciate what Creed did. Very meaningful, thoughtful lyrics over those heavy Tremonti guitars.

That was a different time in the 90’s. Everything was not as politically charged as it is these days.

Since I'm an ol' blue hair, I'll say this...being fashionable is overrated 😉 especially if it prevents one from speaking freely and being able to give credit where credit is due . .kudos for speaking up Mr Mark 👍

I'd argue that it's much more fashionable to be a Creed fan these days than it was back in their heyday. They got a lot of flak, from all angles, back then.

@@kferro I think you're RIGHT! There's a powerful (deep) message in ALL their songs....a message this World needs more than ever right now, imho.

Creed got such a bad rap, so unfortunate, such a great band.
It took me 27 years to understand why my mom, who had me at 17, loved this song so much and played it for me all the time growing up. She is genuinely the most amazing woman I ever have or will ever know.
By far one of the greatest bands no bad songs all have a meaning
It’s not too late! There’s so many great Creed songs. Singer Scott Stapp wrote this for his son. The video is very powerful, don’t miss out.
Creed is one of the greatest bands of all time and this is one of the greatest songs ever written. So many people can relate to it. It came straight from the heart, one of the many reasons I love Creed ❤
When my son Blake was born, I played this song almost everyday as I stared into his eyes. The wife and I watched them live in Los Angeles. What a show. We had a special treat when some of the remaining Doors musicians came out and did several songs with Creed. Incredible night!
Creed had some fantastic songs. Love Stapp's voice. Yes, this song is about the birth of his son.
Creed was very popular back in the day but then for some reason they became the band everybody hated and made fun of for some reason that no one knows. But I feel all these years later people are starting to understand them and appreciate them.

Creed and Nickelback were/are the 2 nearly universally hated bands of the 2000's. My limited understanding of why they are hated on so much is because nearly all of their popular songs sound alike. Sometimes it's hard for me to differentiate Higher, One More Breath, and My Sacrifice because the melodies sound so interchangeable.
@mshat18

@Zoe Gartham I feel you could say that about a lot of bands from that era though don’t you? But I’ve definitely heard that as a criticism of them. Maybe an unpopular opinion but I think they’re no worse than any of the grunge bands from the 90s.

@@Duke_2373 of course I've heard of AC/DC. And Axis of Awesome shows that just about every famous pop song of the last 40+ years use the same 4 chords. I wasn't complaining; I actually really like Creed (and Nickelback is okay too). I was just trying to say what little I knew about why most people dislike them. *shrugs*
I saw Scott in a small venue, on his solo tour after he left Creed. His little boy was sitting on his mother's lap about 10 feet away from me. By the time he finished singing this song I was a blubbering mess! It was wonderful!
I actually thought, this song was about Jesus welcoming us into heaven, with forgiving love. Lol I pray 🙏 it will give me that same feeling.

Awww, I love that interpretation! Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️🙏
The way she put it was spot on. My absolute favourite song!
Yes this song is about him becoming a daddy ❤
Agreed 👍 when they first hit the scene with "Torn" they blew me AWAY - And MANY MANY others!!!! Thanks for sharing you 2 ❤️
Oh I love this song! Creed is a great group!
This is the first Creed song I ever heard as well as my favorite from them. It played a lot when it came out.
Try Altar Bridge Come To Life . . . . . it would be a great intro to the next phase of Creed.
Always loved this song and appreciated Creed. 💞
This song came out the same time I found out that I was going to a father for the first time, so I can relate to it on so many levels. I love this band, even though they've gotten really bad reviews and most people hate them, but I don't care. I've liked them from their first album and have seen them live and they were great. Being a Christian myself, I love the messages in their music and I wish they were still together. It's unfortunate what happened to their lead singer, and all the troubles he's been through. I hope some day that they can get together again as a band.
I love that Scott was a man of faith too, had a unique way sharing that in is music.
Creed was kinda like a bridge between grunge and metal, people like to hate on them but they had some cool stuff...
I will always be a Creed fan. So many good songs. I am glad I've seen them live. Pity For Dime is one of my favorites, too many to list.🔥

Yep , saw them in Orlando 2000 , height of their career. Packed arena . Basically hometown gig. Sound was perfect and Tremonti rocked it
Amazing band so many songs 🤘
love that you two love this band! Scott Stapp's voice is out of this world!
I saw them LIVE 1997 in Minneapolis Minnesota and Scott Stapp sounded just like their recordings.
If you liked this check out "6 Feet From the Edge" and "Rusted & Weathered" Scott Stapp was very spiritual and I loved the way, they could bring the message to people without coming off as "Preachy".
This song was written about his son. But, I felt the same way when my Daughter was born
This is my Son's 'Baby Song'. Anthony is now 22. Back in 2000 his Dad was so closed off to people, didn't like that I loved people. Thank God, his Dad has done a 180
Asia & BJ if you like Creed then you should also check out Alter Bridge. The singer of Creed went through some addiction issues and had to leave the band. They got a new singer named Myles Kennedy and renamed themselves Alter Bridge. To get a good idea of Myles vocal range start with the song Watch Over You then do their first hit Open Your Eyes.

What they said 😊
I believe Creed evolved into Altar Bridge after the lead singer retired for health reasons.
We had a band Creed in 71-73 we did mostly Beatle covers. Yes we was the first and registered with the union. Jim
Creed’s 1st Two Albums are Absolutely Amazing
After Scott Stapp found out he was going to become a dad , he sat down & wrote the lyrics to this song & he later learned that Mark Tremonti had some music he wrote that didn't have any lyrics to it . So they combined the two & this is the end result . You guys need to check out Creed's songs Don't Stop Dancing , Are You Ready , What If , What's This Life For , My Own Prison , One Last Breath & Higher . Just to name a few .
There is so much feeling in every song they do! Mark Tremonti on guitar! They were awesome in concert soo much feeling!! Try anything and everything from Full Circle great stuff! No band like them! Too bad that may never play together again! Have seen Scott Stapp solo awesome Dude! Yes, it was about his first son being born!!❤️
20 years later still phenomenal
Now you need to check out the prequel to this song….Name by Scott Stapp I’ve seen Creed 4 times live and Scott solo once. He’s been sober and his music and his shows have only gotten better!!
You nailed it Asia, the song was about his son being born
I still love Creed so much!
Yes. We'd love to see you in a Creed concert SOON. You will be surprised. Scott REGAINED his powerful voice. I was so delightfully surprised and watched all his 2022-2023 live performnces and WOW. JUST WATCH IT.
This was a good Album by Creed. Higher, Are you Ready, and What If were Bangers as well
They are great and I always love watch you all discover song you’ve not heard… especially when I love them. 💖🙏🏻
Wrote this when he was expecting a child an absolutly beautiful song
As long as you are enjoying Creed, please review their song 'My Own Prison'

UMMM....HELLO? ASIA, BJ. You have to do MY OWN PRISON. IT WAS THEIR FIRST HIT!!!!
Creed became Alter Bridge, which consists of all the band members from Creed with Myles Kennedy on lead vocals instead of Scott Stapp. They did get back together and released a new album in 2009 but they have been inactive since 2012. Alter Bridge is still active. And Scott Stapp has a solo career. I love both bands.
Asia and BJ- Creed was great and the lead singers name is Scott Stapp but they broke up years ago. Scott Stapp still does sing and perform some though but he is by himself now I believe. Another great song here With Arms Wide Open. Can't go wrong with Creed.
Kenny Rogers & Kim Cairns: Don't fall in love with a dreamer.
There is talk of more Creed, maybe a tour, once they can all get together. It’s probably going to be a few years down the road, but they are all willing to do it.
Absolutely check them out live! So much energy! Great band! Check out something live! Great stuff!!
I love creed still , seen them live one and they were just as good live as a recording
Creed was awesome as was 3 doors down if you guys haven't reacted to them definitely check them out, first song that comes to mind is When I'm gone
Such a beautiful song. Thank you ❤
I can't stand the way he sings, sounds like an Eddie Vedder parody, but this song is so powerful, it brings tears to my eyes every time.
They are back together now. They are going on tour 2024. Lfg!
Loved Creed back in the day but Alter Bridge takes it to a different level. Myles Kennedy, one of the best vocalists in rock today!! Stapp, unfortunately had his issues with substance abuse and got the boot. Hope he has things together now.
Whoa, just found out that Prince and Vanity both died at 57, 2 months apart! Creed had their heyday and fame back in the early 2000's. This was so overplayed on MTV and the radio haha. Good band.
Scott is recording again as a solo artist. He's amazing.
This song has always been my favorite of theirs. It touching a very soft spot in my heart.
You two hit the nail on they head as far as the meaning of this song. LOVE
To this day I believe my own prison is one of the best songs ever written I'm a die hard creed fan & have seen them live several times AMAZING
my fav album still listen to this day lol
Creed is simply awesome and very talented with a great sound. I play their greatest hits for part of my playlist. I was fortunate enough to see them live in concert in the 90s. Their opening band at the time was Nickelback (when they were just getting started). I'll never forget the lead singer for Nickelback at the end of their set asking the crowd to make sure and talk to the radio stations to play their stuff. Bigtime self promoting and of course they obviously rose to fame (definite two sides of the fence with fans on that band haha).
That was a great reaction 👏🏼 Now ya'll gotta bump "Don't Stop Dancing". Creed takes it to the next level with that.
I love me some Creed❤❤ ...Another band you should checkout is 3Doors Down. From the same era and genera
Not gonna lie, Creed is a bomb. The song as about finding out you are a father.
Scott Wrote this after he found out he was gonna be a dad
He got out. Enough said. Lol. Excellent group.
One of my favorite Creed songs is: Rain. I hope you get to review that one.
I DEDICATED THIS SONG WHEN I WAS 16 FOR MORE FIRST BORN.....HES A SOLID MAN TODAY❤
Being able to grow up in this era of music was absolutely amazing❤❤
My dad told me when he found out my mom was pregnant with me he played this for her and if I ever have children I’ll do the same it is such a perfect song
That’s what the whole songs about. He an his wife creating life. Beautiful song.
I dont know if you will go by just my request, but Pity For a Dime is a GREAT Creed song.
A very special and beautiful song.
Creed was great live. The band members of Creed are the band Alter Bridge with Myles Kennedy on vocals. They don't perform any Creed songs but you can see Creed singer Scott Stapp solo and you'll hear Creed songs.
Later to this, but Creed gets a lot of backlash these days. However, everything they touched back when popular turned to GOLD! They were phenomenal.
love this song
next.. Joe Bonamassa...live at Greek Theather .. (Cadillic Assembly line )
I love Creed's original videos❤
When this song was new I was in high school. And there was one kid named Travis but his nickname was Spanky. We were on the golf team together and he was absolutely obsessed with this band. And I remember very vividly most of the rest of the team making fun of him for that a lot. And I remember hearing a lot of people make fun of creed and people that listen to it a lot like they did with Nickelback. And I've never understood why that happened with either band because they both kick ass. And they were both really successful briefly. It's as weird as Limp Bizkit being made fun of today. When in the 90s there was nobody bigger. And there's NEVER been anybody bigger since Limp Bizkit in the 90s either. The only popularity that ever even claim close to theirs was Beyoncé at her peak. And Destiny's Child in the 90s would have licked Limp Bizkits boots to be able to open for them just one time.
Love this song, I'm an old rocker, but these guys did it just right.
This was the song that my dad sang to me to sleep when I was little, always remember that day.
Lyrics was beautiful
Scott Stapp wrote the song right after he found out he was going to be a father.
Guys, you have got to checkout Creeds song "One"!!!
❤ keep the Creed comin! My Own Prison please
Memories 😢
Good group. One of the last real musicians.
The video is unbelievable once song I learned to play
Love your reactions
I love you guys reactions. 🫀
Happy Father's day yall! 🥲❤
Asia , did you sing your own theme song ; it sure sounds like it ! 😇 😍 🙌
I have always loved this song. You should listen to Zoe Jane by Staind. Similar message that got me and my buddies through missing our kids on deployments.
Creed has always been Spiritual for me.
