One more point I would like to add for credit card usage is the bill cycle. If you know exactly what's the bill cycle of your credit card, you can have more financial control. For example if you are making big transactions in the start of the bill cycle, you will get 2 salary credits before the due date of your bill payment(if your salary credits every month on same date)

I have always self disciplined to CC any amount i pay the full amount .As Ankur mentioned it helps us in future in many ways. Taking it for granted is bad and causes real damages.

It’s been more than 1.5 years since I started working and now I am finally getting a credit card, it’s not a free card but I understand everything you said in the video. I always thought that we should never spend the money that we don’t have! Thanks for recalling that for me! And thanks for all the information 💯 so ready for my first credit card!

I highly recommend to put amount equal to your credit limit in a fd or seperate account as a security. This will save you from not paying full amount and getting into a debt trap.

Thanks a lot, Ankur for making this video. I am guilty of using the credit cards for granted and collected 5-6 for fun initially I used to pay full. By the time with crunch, family issues had to use funds available in the hope of paying full but the hope failed and got in the trap. The stress of paying the outstanding amount and innumerable calls from the bank stressed me up that I felt like beating myself up. Never had that kind of feeling and now I realize it is down to the fact of little and less understanding of finances. I am still trying to understand finance by watching your videos or other finance professionals still far from where I want to be but I am sure that I will now never go into that trap and have brilliant financial freedom soon. If possible can you give me some time so I can use your brains to enhance my financial knowledge

@@hope.7000 Yes true. But we get benefits from credit cards as well. either through coupons or theough direct money cashbacks. so if that crosses 400 rupees, overall you won't be in loss. For people who spend excessively through credit cards, for them this is very beneficial. EDIT: And that's why Ankur said that for starting, we should always look for free credit cards on which we don't have to pay any annual fee.

You've not covered one more important fact on withdrawing cash from credit card. Once you withdraw cash from credit card through an ATM, it immediately imposes interest from the very next day. It doesn't matter whether you've fully paid your credit card bill just yesterday or 2-3 days back.

Spent 1.40 lakh by credit card in Jan 2020 Couldn't pay money Paid 12000 every month for the whole year after each bill Now still the bill is for 2 lakh

Whenever you spend through credit card, transfer that amount in a separate savings account. Add credit cards as biller for auto payment to this account. Never withdraw money from this SB account. This makes sure 1. You always have the actual money which you spend through credit card 2. You never miss the credit card payment due date and avoid penalties/ late charges. 3. Keep earning interest at saving account rate ~3.5%. Enjoy 😉

Also can do one thing of you dont have money to pay credit card bill so transfer emi amount to your bank account through paytm and pay your emi but in next emi you have to pay it with your money it is only for taking time to collect money to pay emi i know it charge 4.07% at paytm but it is less than panalty charges

Additionally, it gives you the required support when you are stuck in emergency/medical situations where big amount is required to be paid upfront. Even your best friend or relative will take some time to arrange that money..CC does support you there.

Great..This video helped me to get rid of the misconception which i had previously about credit card.

Hello Ankur, Really thanks for one more good video. I was trapped in this cycle during my 20s .. that taught me how to use card and I am availing the benefits of credit cards. In video, you mentioned cred can be used to pay rent and also video was not sponsored by cred. But you forgot to mention that cred charges some service charge for the rent payment. In my case, my rent is 23500 and cred is charging a good service charge of rs 255, which per year is rs 3060 and if I pay by Netbanking, it is free. So in my opinion, paying rent is not good use of cred and shall not be advised. if you advise in your video, I guess you should tell about service charge also, so that user can decided if he want to pay service charge or not. In case of emergency, it can be used but as a regular mode not a good method

This is very well made and covered, however required the addition of CC EMI to make it more complete.

Good one. But you missed few points. For example, once you go for minimum amount due, after that there's no interest free period for fresh transactions. It simply means that they are allowed to charge interest on every new spend, that too at 40% as you said.

@@aayushmewara3793 Lets say statement got generated on 20 July, your total due was Rs.2 lacs, minimum due was 15k and due date was 10 Aug. So now, if u make only 15k payment upto 10 Aug then you will be charged the finance charges(3.5% or whatever your bank mandates) for all the transactions done in the current cycle including the ones did between 21 July and 10 Aug. Also note, the same carries for any cumulative payments between 15k and short of Rs.2lacs. If you make payment less than 15k then you are liable for late penalties etc. However, if you make 2 lacs (i.e. total due) payment in 20 payments of Rs.10k each but before 10 Aug then no charges whatsoever is applicable. This is because many a times there are limitations on payment size. Like my CC bill for one card was 2.17 lac. I cant make that in a single transaction using UPI. So I divided into 3 payments on 3 days. This has no consequence. They will check total payment received on or before due date thats all. Furthermore, some banks will accept cancelled transactions from previous cycle as payment while some dont. That is, last month you bought a phone for 70k and cancelled it later but money was not credited back before statement generation date leading to a bill for 70k. In this case, some banks will accept this 70k re-credit due to cancelled transactions after statement generation as payment while some wont. While others will simply expect you to call and inform them and get things on record (ask them to make such note on your card account to avoid penalties/fines). Hope this comprehensively clears your doubts.

He uses Standard chartered credit card and gets a 5% cashback for many transactions along with some points. We had to save these points and money from cashback for a couple of years to get a washing machine and spend on other items.

Benefit No 1 - You can earn interest but for that you need to transfer money to Bank first which itself comes with a fee of 2-4%.
