Thank you Dan for doing yet another gem for us! Many great tricks in there - my favorite one is the audio-triggered gate with the "compression" curve. And indeed, ShaperBox is on Black Friday sale now, so that's ReverbShaper + 9 more Shapers.

I'm a guitarist, not a sound designer-very glad I stayed to the end; that chapter on the ability to customize guitar cabinet IRs was really cool! -Tom
For me personally, Shaper Box 3 is the best Plugin in the last few years. Really useful, really good.
Stunning tool! Dan, as a long time viewer of your channel, let me say a huge "thank you" for sharing your remarkable ideas and techniques with the world. You are a credit to the craft of audio engineering.
This is utterly fantastic. I now need shaperbox.
dan, i just discovered your channel a few weeks ago and i have to say it is the most informative, fascinating, educational, and entertaining channel on this side of youtube. this content is absolute gold.

FFS... There was I thinking I was going to leave getting this update to ShaperBox because I don't really need any more reverbs and then you go and show us all the crazy unexpected shit it can do. Great vid, as always.
Good to see you back. I bought shaperbox a few days ago, so what a timing.
this work is genius, can't wait to see how cableguys will continue to design such elegant and well-thought tools in the future
Welcome back Dan! The guitar cabinet idea is so powerful. The gating and ducking are also excellent reasons I might buy this.
'Master Jedi Dan' so good to see you back, totally awesome detailed review video 10/10
Dan, as always, I tip my head to your excellence in demonstrating these tools. Simply brilliant!
Great tips (and review) combined in one video Dan! Kudos!
Hey cableguys.Thank you for an attractive upgrade to reverbshaper. It's a pleasure to have so mighty plugins at this loyalty price!
Thank you DW. We can always rely on you to uncover hidden depths. 👍
Excellent work! Thank you!
Another great one,Dan. Thank you. Stay well.
So good! I just grinned during the entire video. So, so much rich information poured into a brilliant demonstration. I guess I'm going to add the reverb. . .
Great to hear from you again 🖤
Amazing tutorial. Fantastic presentation and demonstration of this wonderful plugin. 🥰
The guitar cab ir bit at the end was awesome
I have long meant to buy the Shaper set. This video, up to your usual high standard, has convinced me to so. I hope your ongoing health issue set has ameliorated a bit. Thanks for making the effort to share, in any case.
Your music is just incredible!
Second reverb video in a row… and I’m here for it.
the music absolutely creeps me out... I love it
Even before watching the video Dan has already convinced me to upgrade. 😂
Great to see Dan back!
Holy shit. The size tweaking of the IR when used for a cab sim is so cool. That offers so much more tonal opportunities.
Amazing, and this track is sick!
Thanks DAN !! really great demonstration of what ReverbShaper can do.. and BTW, nice to hear about you ;-)

holy shit an amazing plugin to make original amen breaks with
Gate reverb techniques + Dan Worrall + Cool plugins + multiband IR cabs all in a single video. OK, the universe can just self-destroy now, it can't get better than this. I'm as happy as a VU metre in the loudness wars.
How the hell do you make these videos? This is probably your best so far!
A curve setting of the envelope like Fog Convolver would be good here
Nice beat.
speaking of multiband IRs, guitar cabs tend to honk at 600hz range so the phase cancellation might actually help if you tune it right, and as a bonus you might also remove the harshness and other problems that come with several factors which contributed to the capturing process.

Oh Dan, you make my day - each time I watch one of your videos. I was on the edge of my seat when you loaded in those guitar cabs - unfortunately you used the word "obviously" every time when I was like "WTF? Why is this working this way? And how this parameter now controls something entirely different?". Christmas would be early this year if you could elaborate a bit more about what goes on there - I mean, apart from the obvious ;-)
@DanWorrall
7 ай бұрын
Sorry! Gain controls as EQ: if you split the signal into three different bands, then boost the gain for just the high band, that's like boosting a high shelf EQ. Instead of one gain control you have three, each controlling just part of the spectrum. Ducking: this is actually compression, but the dry input signal feeds the sidechain of a compressor processing the wet output signal. With a reverb impulse that has a long tail that means the reverb is ducked for the duration of the dry signal then rides back up afterwards. But a guitar cab impulse has no long tail; timing wise it's much the same as the input; so the ducking reverts to just being compression again. Was there anything else I should have explained better?
@shaihulud4515

@@DanWorrall Thanks a ton! No need to explain anything else more in depth - at least not for me; your explanation really made things clear for me. May I add one thing? I cannot remember when I subscribed, but it was my ticket into really get a grip at all the gear that I am using (don't matter if analog or digital), and it was one of those lucky days, when I just found the right channel to subscribe to. Can't value the time and effort you put into those videos enough, so please accept my heartfelt 'thank you'!
Could you take a look at the recently refreshed Eventide channel strip plugins?
I could see this potentially great for reggae Dub. Creating filter sweeps on the reverb, similar to King Tubby or scientist. Are each off the parameters automatable?
Yo Dan, great to see you! I was thinking about your separation trick but can`t set it up when hardpanned doubletracked guitars conflict with some mono instrument. Any tips here?
@DanWorrall
7 ай бұрын
I always process hard panned guitars with mid side EQ on a bus. Try notching problem frequencies out of just the M channel. The more MS EQ you use the less the guitars will be actually hard panned afterwards, but I usually think the results sound better regardless.

@@DanWorrall thank you
About resampling being the term for varispeed/tape-style pitch shifting, I can see a probable explanation, although I don't think I'd associate resampling with varispeed. It's exactly the lack of initial "re"sampling that produces the result. It's usually done (at the low level) by adjusting the samplerate of the sound. If you were to set the samplerate, without "re"sampling, it would change the pitch/speed of the sound, hence why varispeed shifting a sound lower and lower starts to lose fidelity. At the end, we would resample from the new sample rate, e.g., if our original sound was 44.1k and we wanted an octave down, now our samplerate would be 22.5k, to 44.1k.
@DanWorrall
7 ай бұрын
This is not quite correct. In this case we want it to speed up or slow down. But the sound needs to end up back at the project samplerate, so the sped up / slowed down sample needs to be resampled back to that rate.
@mixenne
7 ай бұрын
@@DanWorrall You're right, thank you for the correction. I didn't explain it quite well. My point was that it is the lack of "re"sampling initially that produces the results we need. Edited my original comment. Thank you for the video, too. 🙏
@Cableguys

Note that we're also applying some EQ under the hood when turning the Size parameter for more balanced changes to make up a bit for changes in frequency response. Thanks also to the great input from Yoad Nevo here..
The juxtaposition your audio sophistication with your typeface choices is quite amusing. Ii wish you'd make a video using some audio equivalents of Comic Sans, whatever that might be. Not exact equivalents.but how about something like Billy Don't be a Hero or Sugar Sugar. Sorry for totally ignoring the excellent video content in this comment

i wasn't interested in reverbshaper before but the fact that the IR resampler is smooth is tempting. normally this is not the case in convolvers because recalculating the entire IR is an expensive non-realtime-friendly process. can it be automated in this plugin? i don't expect that to perform well, but would be cool if it worked at all. also i'd like to add smth to your statement that you could also just automate the gain on a reverb send without this MSEG. yes, butthen it wouldn't be sampleaccurate. your squary curves would produce an inconsistent sound on larger buffer sizes on transientheavy material. that's why plugin-internal modulation systems are mostly better than DAW-automation
@Cableguys
7 ай бұрын
Actually we considered allowing to automate the Size slider (and the Decay slider), but then we think that for automation the CPU hit would be too high (a small CPU spike while moving the sliders is acceptable, but with automation it might give a bad experience). Thanks for noticing that you can edit those without any silence gaps!
@Beatsbasteln
7 ай бұрын
@@Cableguys without silence gaps and without discontinuities in general :) still no automation, but i guess with the smooth sound i could at least record a performance on that knob
For a long time I have wondered why resampling/pitching cabinet/speaker impulses is not a thing.
I thought multiband IRs on guitar would be considered one of the standard approaches I’ve been doing this for years now, although it looks easier in ReverbShaper
