Creative modular sampling patches | Sebsongs Sampler
Музыка
This video is about the Sebsongs Modular Sampler. It’s a new DIY kit available from Thonk, who kindly sent one over for me to check out. It’s a simple 12-bit mono sampler with about three and a half seconds of memory and a beautifully crunchy, lo-fi sound inspired by vintage machines like the Akai S612.
In this video, I’ve put together a small case with a few of my other favourite modules - the Blukac Endless Processor, the Serge VCFQ and Resonant EQ, the Pladask Dradd effects unit and the Xaoc Devices Sarajewo BBD delay - and I've built a few simple patches that explore some creative uses of sampling.

Great video again Tom! Interesting module, and that's a good looking little case :)

Thank you sir! Yeah, that little case is a lot of fun :)
Great musical examples 👍 That blown out gritty feedback from the Sarajewo is pretty special too!
love to see my good friend Sarajewo get some wiggle time
I can imagine creating some sort of granular synthesis using Sampler, Traffic and an envelope generator together
I love this approach, let CV from other modules determine the sample's manipulation. There is no need to try and design an MPC in a 8 HP footprint.
the paper sound is pretty neat runs really well with the beats !
Always explained so clearly and concisely with excellent examples to demonstrate 👌🏼
This little sampler is really interesting and your video highlights its peculiarities. Excellent job!
Such a good demo of this little sampler. You sold me on one or two...
Built in mic's are always so fun to experiment with. Great video 👏
oufffffff tom, that reverse drum thang, damnnnnn the crowd s going to love you for learning me that trick, mad respect! i got the original s612 actually, unfortunately the mic pre isnt working so i couldnt compare this with the original. its probably not as gritty but it will do the trck very nice and for my liveshow i dont wanna bring a s612 haha! sebsong is gangsta
Excellent patches! I especially enjoyed the combo with the Traffic, as that's been a recent favorite of mine.
Got this in my basket..think I'll have to commit, after hearing this.
well done, thanks!
Excellent patching as always! thank you
This is really quite beautiful ❤
amazing! if only it had 8 - 10s of recording....
Lovely work on this Tom !
Damn you. Now I have to buy this sampler and the Endless Processor also...
Really cool. Lovely little case with the VCFQ, resonant EQ, etc. Something particularly aesthetically pleasing about the square shaped cases.

Thanks! Yeah, I really like this form factor for a case. It also pleases me that this particular set of modules all have the same style of knob :)

@@TomChurchill great point. All Serge style knobs. I half want to add the Endless Processor to my case just due to the look.
Very cool demo! Does it save what's in sample memory during power cycles? I imagine not.

No, it’s all temporary - definitely feels more like a creative effect than a traditional sampler.
This was great as ever Tom. Apols for the stupid question but how do you get Pam’s to trigger that one bar loop?

Cheers! There are a couple of ways - I think for the relevant patches in this I just did a square wave, width 25%, on a /16 - that gives one bar with the gate high and three bars with it low. You just need to remember to yank the patch cable out during that 3-bar low period before it cycles round again, or it'll overwrite what you've just recorded!
Just one sample at a time with no way to save samples, correct?
