Creative alternatives instead of giving up! Don't have the same materials? Here's how anyway!
I'm sure many of us can relate to this situation: You're engrossed in a KZread video, and something catches your eye, something you instantly fall in love with. What's the natural reaction? You rush to your craft room, grab your journal, all set to bring that inspiring idea to life. But then it dawns on you that you don't have the exact materials showcased in the video.
And then what happens? Sadly, you might just close your journal and give up on the idea altogether. That's disheartening! But fear not, we can turn this around and discover alternatives that make any idea work, even if you don't have the same materials as the creator in the video!

This is a very eclectic design. What I love most of your approach is it is always to push the use of the mediums, to see what new effects can result. That's what mastery is all about! I had to laugh about sneaking in the little bats, which is a precursor to Tim's demo today! LOL ❤

Thank you so much for your wonderful words! Yeah....those bats 🙈🤣
I love the bats!! 😆 I think a clear embossing powder could be tinted with alcohol ink 🤔. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us and always keep me laughing. Watching you is way better than TV
I have missed so many videos…I am catching up! My husband passed away unexpectedly and it has been quite a change! Your kits are stunning!
Another idea might be to make your own ink. Cake decorating pastes or powdered are like under $10 for a set of colors, spray bottles at the dollar store. A color wheel to mix your own colors. Make up sponges from the dollar store can work for daubers. Think out side the box peoples!😊
So much fun, Luise!!...& beautiful!🤩 Both of your new digital kits would be a stunning, super fun "pop!" in a Boho themed journal. They're gorgeous.💙💗💛
I learn so much by watching your process and listening to how you process. And for a bonus, there's always humor, giggles, and happiness. Thank you!
I think I have heard your name mentioned on some of the other junk journal channels that I watch. I was browsing and found this video and was intrigued by the title. Since I am relatively new to junk journal creation I was very interested in seeing how to create with what I have. I absolutely love it! I "inherited scrapbook paper, embossing medium, inks, oxides, paint, stencils, and stamps from my daughter-in-law when they moved. This was perfect in that I have some of the things you used but it has also inspired me to think outside the box and be inventive. Thank you so very much.
So fun! And such a surprising Luise video--by that I mean, wow, so much color! These pages are gorgeous. Also, I would never in a million years have thought to put bats and fish in the same scene (also with die cut flowers!) but the combination is charming and magical.
You’re the best Luise! Love the creativity and humor! I think you need to do a US tour!
I love everything you do! and the bats are the "cherry-on-top"!
Really great ideas! But I still want everything Tim Holtz makes! 😂 Oh, and so funny about the bats! They look great.
I gotta say, I was not liking the giraffe skin stencil but you layered everything so well, I loved the finished product! Beautiful!
Ohmygosh luise, this is amazing . TFS your inspiration. 🙏💜🙏💜🙏💜
I just love how tickled you get. ha The affect you got is amazing! Your always so fun to watch!!
Wunderbar! ❤❤❤ I wondered…will she really use the bats?! But they worked. Can imagine they are seagulls on the beach, lol 😂! Love the way this all turned out. Awesome!
I really love the bats they were meant to be there❤
The camera shot is extraordinary, I see it and its wonderful.
Gracious Luise! I learn so much from you! Every time I watch you I learn a new technique. I loved the Marker technique around the edge… I never even thought of that! Wetting the edge would spread it .. I think… 😂… I’ll find out! I look forward to more videos like this! Thank you!!
Stunning colors! Oh, my gosh! I love it!
Love this project…and the bats 😊
Love your video. It triggers ideas for alternatives, using my own supplies. I think some people treat art/craft tutorials like a cake recipe, thinking they require the exact same ingredients. They are actually a licence to try something new with your own supplies or use something in an unexpected way. It's permission to experiment!

Exactly! My Mum is one of those who has always found it hard to imagine how to use different items to implement a technique or look she likes, while my brain goes wild with ideas & even if I tried to copy something it would make changes lol. She has always needed to copy an idea with the same items, but has been doing a calligraphy class that has helped give her confidence to experiment & create new things using the technique rather than the specific materials.

@@miamcknight9138 you just reminded me that I bought a bunch of nail polish to do nail art & I should use some of it in my art instead 🤔 thanks 😁
Love it. And your wet combed cat page was inspiring. I'll have to try this technique. Take care.
A very helpful video, thank you. After watching you for a while I want to compliment you on your English. It’s not easy learning a language well. Doing the videos you have to be very flexible and “think on your feet.” You should be proud. Enjoy a wonderful August.

Absolutely amazing and fun. I love your imagination. ❤️
Luise, I’m so proud of you and how you have blossomed in your art. Tim is very lucky to have you. I have gotten one of my friends into junk journaling and suggested your videos for her to learn the advanced ways to use her supplies. As always, your creations just amaze me. TFS and teaching us. ❤

Many fun techniques! Interestingly I wanted to try these out myself, so thank you for sharing your experiments ❤😃 (I no longer anxious about your upside-down distress dabber, thank you for that 😂)
Always a joy to watch your videos Luise.
Always, Always such stunning art!!
Absolutley love watching you create! 🤙
Leave it to you Louisa to use bats on a floral page I love the way your mind works
it could also happen with colored highlighters, it would just be mate and then add clear embossing glaze
I am absolutely inspired!! 🤩 You are an amazing artist! Half the fun is in trying to make what I have work and fit into all the amazing techniques and tricks you share with us. Sometimes they work sometimes they don't. I have learned from you that I can always use my 'failed' projects in some way there is beauty in everything it just might have to be turned a different way or deconstructed and recreated.😃 Thank you for all your hard work and for sharing your amazing talent with us!! ❤
This is such a cool technique... Thank you for sharing, your page turned out fabulous!
WOW it is amazing. Thank you for showing us
So much color! I love it! Thank you
This spread is very fun! I like how you explained the alternative choices
Thank you Luisa, I learn a lot from your very descriptive videos..this one was a bit of a challenge I think…🎉
Well Luise, you asked me to think about being in your brain as you craft. I really enjoyed watching through your mind. BUT now I am lost in there 😂 so if you happen to find me wandering around (I’ll be the one saying Wow,) please send me home because I’m obviously lost in your mind hoping to find more inspiration.

Stunning
Once again you amaze me, Luise! I get so much joy watching you create. Your enthusiasm is contagious. You are a wonderful artist!😊

Awesome, Luise!! Tfs❤
Beautiful
Brilliant! You are an inspiration, sprinkling seeds of creativity to everyone who watches 😊
Inspired I am. Tfs
WOW Luise I am so happy for you that TIm Holtz has recognized your talents. Fabulous tutorial today. Many blessings from Canada 🇨🇦
I often seen Tim Holtz products that I would love to have but usually it's money and living in the UK not in my local craft shops. I know you have the Internet but you really have to shop around to keep the post and package down so this video is really useful thank you for sharing 😊 I do tend to buy a lot from Etsy as can get good deals there..beautiful papers by the way ❤
So pretty Luise, I still can’t get over you using bright colours!😆. I love that your style shows up even in a totally different colour palette for you! We have Sea horses so why not bats, they may be related to stingrays!🤣🤣🤣💕🇨🇦
Wow!! Luise this turned amazing. I’m loving the colors of your digitals. Love how you experimented with different things in the craftroom.
They look great. Take care, be safe.
Another fabulous inspiring video Luise! Thank you so much for showing us different ways to use what we have. I understand completely what you are telling us in this video. You are such an inspiration to me and so many others. please just keep on being you! And thanks for letting us hang out in your brain for a while! ❤
Lovely demonstration doing it two ways - gives me great ideas. Thank you Luise - these are such beautiful pages!
This is so cool. Some new techniques to try.
Luise, your creativity always amazes me and knows no bounds! I've just recently discovered distress glaze and have been soaking up any information I can find on how they can be used. So was quite happy to see how you would use them. Once I finish up the projects I'm working on I'm going to have a play with distress glaze. Love the fish and bats. Only you could pull that off.❤
So so beautiful. I really love it.
Hello louiseit is awesome to see you its been awhile ive watched been busy making my own creations .i love these ideas once again .
I wasn't aware that there was translucent texture paste. The effect is wonderful! I have glossy ModPodge, and I wonder whether I could achieve a similar effect. But the ModPodge might be too thin a consistency to use with a stencil. I'll try it and see what happens. I just had a thought. What would happen if you spritzed an inkjet-printed image to smudge it on purpose? You might get some interesting effects???
Wonderful video, Luise. I have to ask - have you used any of the “party mix?” I always assumed the mixed colors would look like a muddy mess, but now I’m intrigued. 🤔

Ever thought of using some of your old eye shadows on your art or making your own stencils from cutting up bottles made of light plastic? The dollar store in your town can offer great cheap ideas to use - a piece cut from a textured rubber bath mat makes a great stamp!
