Still doable, give it a go, same principles. Use grids on the lights to control spill.

💥 And all that was necessary was to aim the light down more. 10 feet away from a rim light? An odd technique that surely does introduce flare at that angle.

Yep, that works too. Keep in mind though, I'm also trying to control the type of rim light we're getting. When it's closer to the subject, it will open up and cover a lot more hair than when it's far away. I'm using the distance just to create a subtle edge lighting effect. But to each their own!

Can this spotlight tool make a big enough circumference to covers the waist up?

When you started and set the camera to block the natural light everything was pitch black. How do you get light in the model’s face with only the back light firing?

All that light hitting her in the front is from it bouncing around the room. He has a mostly white studio, so the light eventually makes its way around to the front of her.

Good video overall, but I'm going to nit-pick here: at 5':06" not a good practice of using the arm. Righty tighty lefty loosy. At 9':40" is correct.
