Creating your own SolidWorks Weldment Profiles

In this video you will be see how to import a DXF/DWG file in SolidWorks and convert that into a Weldment Profile. This is the same process to create your own extrusions if you draw them within a SolidWorks sketch.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

what i like about this video, is you get right to the point. i can't stand how SOOOOO many youtube videos people put up has all kinds of talking about nothing, obvious stuff, and redundant stuff, that makes it take twice as long, sometimes to figure out it doesn't have the info you're looking for, but you didn't do that. good job

but how do you align the edge of the parts when you have different thicknesses? the library parts are converted from the center line and if they have different thicknesses, the edge will not be aligned.

+Kasanda Luabini It seems you are not administrator of your PC - this is normally why you cannot save to Program Files folder. If you save it to you Desktop, or to you Documents folder you can get around it. Make sure you create a folder called Weldments first, then create a folder inside called Custom, then save your new profile inside custom. The last step is to tell SolidWorks about your new folders. Open SolidWorks, go to Tools->Options. In this window click on File Locations in the list, then in the drop down list that appears select weldment profiles. Click Add, and select the first folder you created called Weldments. Now click ok. I've made another video previously about this, check this out - kzread.info/dash/bejne/rKqnuaWbhsWfn8o.html

hi there, help When I try to save it a massage popped up, and it says ” you don’t have permission to save in this location, contact the administrator to obtain permission.”

Hi Sole hope, By default SolidWorks tries to save your Weldment Profiles in "C:/Program Files/SolidWorks Corp/SolidWorks/lang/english/Weldment Profiles". If you are not the administrator user it will not let you save it there as Program Files is a windows protected folder. What you should do is create a folder in your Documents called "SolidWorks Files" and create a sub folder called Weldment Profiles and add all the profiles there. You then need to open SolidWorks, go to Tools->Options and in the list select "File Locations", in the drop down list that will appear select "Weldment Profiles", click Add to add the location of the folder you created. This will then load the profiles in the default locations, and also your custom location. Let me know if this helps, otherwise i can make a video to show you.
