Creating Your Identity Through the Method Acting Approach | Greg Bryk | TEDxQueensU

As a Vanier Cup champion, Greg’s life story had been set out for him by his parents. He was going to play football and then either become a lawyer or a politician. Greg believed this story to be his own but in his third year of university he accidentally learned who he truly was. Now an accomplished actor, Greg shares his story and the lessons he has learned throughout his career on how one can take charge and be the author of their own life.
Greg Bryk is former Queen's University student and Vanier Cup winning Golden Gael football player. He is a classically trained and award winning actor who has appeared in over 65 films and television shows. He has moved between creating memorable characters in feature films like Men With Brooms, History Of Violence, Poor Boys Game, Shoot Em Up and Immortals, as well as starring in television series like Bitten, Wynonna Earp, Book Of Negroes, Fargo, Regenesis, Rookie Blue, XIII and Saving Hope. He can currently be seen in the epic Netflix/Discovery series Frontier and the upcoming Mary Kills People on Lifetime and Global. Greg lives in Toronto with his wife, HGTV's Danielle Nicholas Bryk, and their three children.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

    hello, guys. i am callum, i am 21 years old. i clicked on this video a few days back but left it unopened. i am dealing with depression and substance abuse. i am an actor. i saw my therapist today and we discussed the ways in which i am going to achieve the things i want in my life and how i am going to manifest them. as i was leaving she told me she wanted me to go home and write out the story of my life. i came home and did so. i then opened my laptop and saw this tab lingering, and clicked play. i feel blessed with a forceful omen, and i feel as though this gentleman was here for me. i panicked slightly as i knew the speech was coming to an end. i cried for a while and as my breathing steadied and the room i'm in became silent i noticed the ticking of the clock. it was a very important moment for me. wanted to share this. i hope whoever else is watching writes their hero just as they had hoped. bless.

    I hate how videogames nowadays need to put a disclaimer that it is fictional content, so that people aren't offended. Why are other types of media allowed to explore various deep political and philosophical topics but not games? If it's player's participation, that's a poor excuse.

So somehow I guess I am in the right direction. :)

    When i see Joseph Seed (Greg Bryk) in Farcry 5 I was Shocked by his masterpiece Expressions on his face, His calm and clear Voice but it was a Video game but when I search about him in Real life I was Shocked that this Fictional Villian is Real. Greg Bryk facial Expressions are Masterpiece and if you see him in interviews He is always in Character telling us that How much Passion he has about Acting!!! He really Deserve Oscar for Playing Joseph Seed.

    Greg Bryk isn’t an A list actor. You wouldn’t normally think of him when it comes to big screen movies. HOWEVER, he is a phenomenal actor and doesn’t get enough credit or roles I think he should get in today’s day and age. Definitely good playing a bad guy. Keep it up Greg!

    BE YOURSELF - equivalent to saying "Do what you've always done" - BE WHO YOU WANT TO BE - equal to saying "Do what you've never done"

  • @Angels-3xist
    @Angels-3xist2 жыл бұрын

    When we are searching we may be told to choose. When we are in action we may be told to settle. What makes us want to choose or struggle for choice or fall or come into action is the essence of living. What makes us strive or juxtapose holds us by pain or fear or love or empowerment. What and who helps us live the lives we want are the people and questions that involve a dare. We are lucky if what dares us knows and becomes us and helps us share transformation sustains and helps us thrive by moments, days or a lifetime and when we want to be so much we can hardly be, we hold a place to feel and become whatever we want. Art and stories are a space that speaks on all sides to do that so we can come to rest and we rest to come to action. All spaces speak to others. All of it has meaning. We all share in the same existential restlessness of being human. Sometimes even the search for self by becoming all things can still feel confining just because we’re human. However we do it, it’s important to remember that we can create a new reality so long as we live and we do whether we choose to or not. We always exist in that creation. You are creating even now, even of it’s only on the inside. All we have to do is find a way to let what we can’t help but create come to life. What we can’t help but create is life itself.
