I switched companies just so I can work with Kotlin on the backend. That was almost 3 years ago and I'm still loving it. My favorite programming language by far!

great video - thanks guys! Learned Kotlin myself out of interest like 3(?) years ago and don't regret anything. Unfortunately, cannot convince my team at work yet to switch from Java to Kotlin but working on that! ;) Private projects are all Kotlin nowadays (and Typescript shhhhh).

Thank you very much JetBrains for this revolutionary language. Every time I use a different language, I'm sad that I can't use kotlin features!

@@encapsulatio Collection extension functions in Kotlin are very, very powerful. Only thing that gets close to it is C# LINQ and it's not even perfect. And that's just one example. I also love the null stuff in Kotlin.

Great documentary. Funny how Jake was “skeptical” at first but was fully bought in after using it for a while. How could you be skeptical about KOTLIN!

Everyday I write code in Kotlin. It feels amazing and makes you smart to create algorithm because its type safe and readability. When they announced Android officially support Kotlin language, it was God's answer to my productivity. I write code faster than in Java. I could see more error ahead before compiling. I want to see Kotlin 50 years from now.

Thank you that you believe in Kotlin and made it real for all of us =) Congrats!

I am glad that I switched from Java to Kotlin in January 2018. As an Android developer, that switch was almost instant and I can not imagine going back to Java. I wish that third-party game engines like Unity/Unreal would add Kotlin support. Hopefully, we will see that.

JetBrains is my favorite under-trillion-tech company because they build such great products!

i remember the early days i had to go out of my way to convince management to use kotlin now i'm the management :D

This language is amazing, easy to write and even better reading. The time on developing or implementations can easily give way more performance to any projects even outside android environment. Thanks a lot.

As a haskell connoisseur, I find myself thinking of "why didn't I just pick kotlin" a bit too often than I should. But oh well. В любом случае, приятно знать, что наши соотечественники играют такую большую роль в мире программирования.

From what I know Kotlin doesnt follow the functional programming paradigm (at least not natively).. So, you have two quite different worlds. Both have their right to exist.

Kotlin is a great language. Been using it since 2019 and so far it's been really great.

First I love James and Then Jetbrains as there will no IntelliJ or Kotlin if not Java found. But I'm now using Kotlin by thinking Kotlin is a son from Java. Love Java and Kotlin.

I come from C# and I love kotlin. Very powerful, very fun.

I think kotlin played a huge role in Android development. Being an Andrid developer is not an easy job. Things are getting updated (or outdated depending on which pov you choose.) very fast. Kotlin made this rushing environment lovable (tolerable).

what a statements: KOTLIN IMPROVED MY CODE QUALITY min 9:42, I mean really?, that does not depent on a language, it`s personal. Dont understand me bad, I love kotlin, but I think letting all Android stuff gave their opinions on Kotlin is not objective, they choose it, they are not going to speak nonses of that decision, right?! Kotlin has all his reputation thanks to google, but that is not fair! But anyway, great job Kotlin Team!

I agree with ,if it was not mis suits betwen oracle and Google nobody will know Kotlin but since Google decide to make it as first language now WE hear all lies why Google dit not choose it before the low suits
