Creating Granular Rhythms With Bitwig Sampler

A not so quick tutorial on using the textures mode on the Bitwig 3.0 Sampler to manipulate audio to generate rhythms otherwise very difficult to create manually. This technique is particularly useful for creating Microhouse or Rominimal style drums a la Ricardo Villalobos but can be used in an infinite amount of ways when thinking outside the box. I personally love letting my DAW create ideas for me organically so I can dive in, chopping and picking the bits I like as they happen. Happy creating!

Wow, my favorite new instructor! I've been watching Mr. Frenkie in Russian though I don't understand the language as he, like you, takes me right through bringing things together instead of focusing on just one thing like the arpeggiator. Thanks for getting in the groove and bringing us along.

Found your channel when I had only 16 track Bitwig and you kept using features I didn't have access to. I just found your channel again after getting Bitwig Studio for Black Friday and I'm about to binge watch the whole channel. Cheers.

@ A small tip - if you put tracks into Group you can set their colour to the "mesh" one (bottom right corner) and it will take the colour of the Group whatever you set it to :)

I've never seen Bitwig used this way. I'm usually in the Arranger window rather than the Mix window, but the speed at which you can pick up samples, tweak them, then record them and do more with the results makes me realize I'm seriously under-utilizing the DAW.

Similar story as yours, 10+ years Ableton, now a Bitwig guy. It's nothing against Ableton really, it's just that once you get hooked on the Bitwig details like the Modulators, the Grid and all of its possibilities, etc, it's damn near impossible to go back. Loving your videos, keep up the great work.

Been watching coupla your vids, wondering how you started with the 'Twig. (I'm a Twigger from 2014 too). Anyway, this one just started autoplaying, and immediately answered my question. I suggest you re-release/reshoot the first 2:30 of this vid and title it "Why I use Bitwig" or "Why I switched: Bitwig vs Ableton" or similar and you'll get megaviews. IMHO. Now, me back to the Grid 101...
