    Thanks for the awesome video! I especially like the 320 sandpaper tip. I am making refrigerator magnets with this technique!

    Good video and it gave me an idea for a niche keychain. One thing I did was print to PDF all the fonts installed on my computer. It's very easy to do. I saved it to my desktop and when I need to I can open it up, zoom in on the page and get a better idea of the font. For me it's 386 fonts (mostly came with Windows) and a few I downloaded.

    You should mask it both sides using some masking material. It will make the engrave look nicer with no charring.

    How do you know how to set it to make the cuts in the right place like what if you were working with a tiny piece of wood

    I use the framing function in lightburn to make sure the laser is going to work in the right area of the material. You can also get the camera mod for lightburn and that will help you line up your projects as well.

    Great video! I watched your video and follow your instruction but I have a problem with letter backwards, why is that? Need help please. Thanks!

  • @Vintauri

    Does anything else come out backwards? The first thing I would check is the origin settings of your laser. Most should be the front left side but xTool lasers would be the rear left. Also make sure you do not have the enable rotary option checked.

    hi may i know what is your Speed and Power setting when cutting birch wood? thank u!

  • @Vintauri

    @Vintauri

    8 ай бұрын

    It will really vary from material to material and it's thickness. That is where the material cut tests are so critical to dialing in your settings for your laser. In this case with 3mm Baltic Birch, I was around 200mm/min and 100% power. But again, that may vary quite a bit for you.

    Good tip with the thin CA. Do you also do both sides? Happy Easter

  • @Vintauri

    @Vintauri

    Жыл бұрын

    I do add a drop of CA to the front back and sides of the key ring just to add some strength. On bare blonde wood like the birch it works well and should not show up but add a fair amount of strength.

    @@Vintauri I should have been more clear -- do you also engrave both sides on any of your key ring fobs? I've been doing that on some of the things I make but am wondering if that is overkill, do people expect only one side to be engraved?

  • @Vintauri

    @Vintauri

    Жыл бұрын

    @@MarklTucson It depends, it takes more time to both make sure the design makes sense from both sides as well as setting up a simple jig for it. To keep them cheap I do not do that, but if a business wants a large quantity and is willing to pay a little extra for it, then it's worth the time.

    I am a little confused (only had my engraver less than a week). At 3:42 you increased the offset which produces a line around the lettering which are all on one layer set as line. Why doesn't the engraver cut out the lettering itself as well as the outer line?

  • @Vintauri

    @Vintauri

    Жыл бұрын

    At about 5:15 in the video I change that text to the blue layer I have set up to fill for the engraving. If I had not made that change, it would have cut the letters our instead of engraving them.

    Use the import option under the file menu. It should let you bring in an image file as long as it's a recognizable one such as .jpg .bmp .png among a few more.
