    That tension on those logs is scary sometimes! Definitely been there before. Love getting a good fire going and burning as I go. Makes me laugh everytime someone says "You can't burn green stuff you gotta let it sit for 3-6 months" Oh yea? Stand back Cleetus and watch me show you some magic!

    Mahalo. One of my favorite remote worker team mates is on the big island. Lives on an old Orchid farm. Remote work has brought insight into how many things I have in common across our country. And you need to start all your posts with "Hey brah" even though no one off island will understand.

    I did the regular mowing today at Jolene's place. And then set off bush hogging along the driveways and behind the house with the excavator. Got about 4 hours in. Only had one car interruption... Amazing. Bush hogging in AC comfort feels like cheating.

    Stihl makes a better chain saw file than that and it also files the cut stops at the same time

    I wouldn't say better, but different. Some people like to set their rakers progressively rather than a set depth depending on what they are doing. Also stihl doesn't make them.

    Look into "interlube" made by Kimball Midwest. It's delayed viscosity so it goes on like liquid and drys like grease. Worked wonders on my old cat 307.

    At 24:20 when you're sharpening the saw, what causes those big chunks out of the excavator tracks? They dont look cheap to replace.

  • @AnomadAlaska

    @AnomadAlaska

    Probably little stumps, rocks, or debris on demolition jobs. Todd probably knows 100 other things with his seat time. Those are sacrificial rubber pads over steel tracks. So the damage isn't as bad as it looks or as expensive to replace as a full under carriage. Good eye, I was wanting to sharpen the saw. I need all the help I can get in that department.

    @@DigginLife21 thanks for the replies. I was surprised how large and fresh some of those look. The job you're on doesn't look bad for debris or sharp rocks. How long would a set of tracks last? Would the loader tracks last longer or shorter?

    @@GRid-yk2ru I’m not sure how long they will last. I do a lot of tracking. I would goes 5,000 hours. The Skidsteer holds up fairly well

    Good advise about burning poison ivy. I had a friend that was near a burn pile with poison ivy and he almost died. He was in the hospital for 2 weeks.

    A good friend of mine is 100% Cherokee Indian. Our native people are immune to skin contact from poison ivy. He was heavily exposed to fire smoke with poison ivy and had to go to the hospital. It's no joke. My dad was playing in the woods as a boy and had the urge to poop. He wiped up with whatever leaves he could grab. That caused a bad case and a lifetime of sensitivity.

    Lots of talk about fire extinguishers after Andrew burned down his Hyundai. I'm thinking having a 5 gallon backpack sprayer with water near my machine is the way to go. I can refill that from many sources pretty fast. Or a firefighting p*ss pump, but they are a lot more expensive than a backpack sprayer from the big box store.
