In this tutorial, we will be creating long shadows by simply taking advantage of the "Drop Shadow" feature in "Blending Options" in Photoshop. The basic idea is that we'll learn a way to put the drop shadow on its own layer. Since the drop shadow is already a "shadow", we will then one or more transform tools to shape it according to the position of the light. And then, blur it naturally and gradually, depending upon how light falls on the object.
For applying advanced blurring, we will use the amazing Blur Gallery, which in itself is a complete dialog box, giving you lots of different types of blurring options that can be used in combination with each other.
To give the shadow a final touch. It is important to darken the area of the object where near the shadow as there must not be any light in there. Finally, you can tweak the opacity and blend-if sliders to match the shadow with the environment.

I’ve found a quick and easy way to get perfect circles on the first time. Imagine the elliptical tool is creating a square around your circle, with one corner being on the original point you clicked, and the opposite corner being your mouse pointer. If you had a way to make a perfect square around the circular object, you could just click in one corner of this square, and move your mouse to the opposite corner, and the circle produced would perfectly select the circular object. An easy way to make this happen is to click and drag a guide line down from the top ruler to the top of the circle. Click and drag a guide line from the ruler on the left to the right side of the circle. Then all you have to do is click in the corner you’ve just made with two guidelines, and drag with the elliptical tool.

Adobe has always had the worst help :-( It always seems to assume that you know how to do what you want to learn how to do. And I'm talking about for over a decade.

He teaches in the most clear and concise way. Not boring.
You are a wonderful teacher. I love how you not only show what to do, but also explain WHY things are done that way. That helps people to actually understand the program so much better. Keep up the great work. Some of the very best tutorials I've ever seen.
I just love how you explain things! I always learn so much by just watching one video of yours. You're awesome, man!
"Isn't that interesting?" should be your catchphrase! You are great, I'm few years into photoshop but you are really enlightning on so many levels, thanks!

Lol for real, I had to take notes!
I do a lot of 3D architectural visualizations and add people to the image. creating realistic shadows to the people (depending on the lighting situation) is always a bit cumbersome and time consuming. This tutorial really helps to speed up things and bring more quality into it. Huge thanks.
If you're familiar with Photoshop, tutorial starts at 6:20 (before that, it's just basic selection, duplicating layers, etc). Another AMAZING video tutorial!!!
This is exactly what I was looking for! Love the clarity with your tutorials.
Your tutorials are very good. The tips and tricks you explain are always useful and, what's also important, they are explained in a very professional way. The audio is good, you show what you do while you're on screen, you have a very nice voice and the tone is very motivational and patient. Excellent work! Keep at it!
Thank you so much! I love when you said "Where do we start a selection? We don't know." I've thought this for far too long, but know I know how to handle this! I always come away from your videos with much more than I was hoping for!
These videos are seriously the BEST, and EASIEST way to understand the why and how. Amazing work!
I can watch anyone of your videos 20 times each and I still learn something new. Amazing teacher you are! Thanks for sharing your knowledge, it feels like I'm taking a college course from viewing your channel.
I've been working with PS for decades, yet every time I hear you say, "Without any further ado..." I know I'm about to learn something wonderful!
Again you're the best photoshop tutor on the web, thank you Unmesh!
love ur tuts. not just tuts, they are complete guide. u teach what and how to do it. and the best part of it, which no other tut has, u tell us why it is done. so we can apply the skill to different situations.

Excellent tutorial, Unmesh. Thank you!!! Never would have thought about changing the shadow in this way.
I've been at my new graphic designing job for a month and at first I was terrified, but after watching your videos every single morning before work, I feel like I've learned and improved so much, and I've had so much fun doing so. Same here! I'm joining a graphic design internship from today-it's 2.5 hours from now actually!-and I'm scared as well. I've a feeling I'm gonna need to add drop shadows a lot at the workplace so I'm watching this video. I followed what Unmesh is doing and I did it pretty well! This channel is a godsend!

You're such a great teacher. By far the best Photoshop teacher I've come across on YT.
You just saved me!!! I was just about to put an order into Fiverr to have someone add shadows to my tumbler mockups to make them look more realistic and before I hit enter I decided to do a search and found you! Thanks for the AWESOME lesson!
I think this might be the best channel to learn Photoshop on KZread. And Umesh is outstandingly awesome at it. Great work guys.
That one part when you separate the drop shadow from the layer 😳 I didn't know that part.. Another technique earned 😁
After browsing through a lots and lots of websites and youtube channels I've found you. oh god.. where were u man?!! There cannot exist a tutorial that is better than PIXIMPERFECT!! Thanks a bunch
Thanks for this - it's such a simple trick when you know how! I know I will use this a lot, especially after you explained it so well. Just one thing - manipulating a selection is much easier than you made it look. You can move a selection just using the arrow keys, and manipulate it with 'Transform Selection' (resize, distort, rotate, move, etc).
Thank you! very clear and easy.... Ive been struggling with this forever and finally an approach that makes sense.... very smart guy and really appreciate it
you have the potential to be one of the best PS tutor....
Every video you create is always super helpful!! Thank you!

I've been using photoshop over 15 years but you're god of photoshop! never knew we could detach shadow :D
I only watch your videos around Christmastime when I'm making Christmas cards, but your videos have been so so helpful through the years!
One creates a nice image, adds some cool styles with a great drop shadow... but when it's flattened, the great shadow effect is gone. But no longer, thanks to this tutorial! Thanks a million.
You're the best bro, I'm new in photoshop, thank you for the tutorials.👍
THANKS! I`ve been looking for this tutorial for so many time
that's an interesting way to use the eclipse tool. I've always used guides and dragged on to the top of the circle and one to the left of the circle, then used the top left point where they meet for the point of starting.
I know people have said that before, but you are AMAZING! Love your videos. Thank you for sharing your incredible knowledge with us
Great video! Holding spacebar to move an active selection was the hidden little gem, thanks!

Amazing video, I found that with more simple shapes you can just copy it, paste it, change the opacity, and configure the position of it to make it appear as a shadow. Worked for me but nothing compared to anything you do, keep up the good work map

Love watching your tutorials. Nice to see different ways of accomplishing things i already do. Some are less destructive, which I like. Curious to your Laptop speed. It seems to struggle and cause your video and audio to glitch a bit. May be time to upgrade ;) Thanks for all you do!
GREAT video. Thanks a lot!
Man you are so good! Your explaining its amazing too! Thank you sooo much :)
Thanks Unmesh bro for providing free photoshop tutorials!

thanks sir ur video is awesome it's give me so many kinds of knowledge about photoshop, & once again thanks you 🤗
Great tutorial again, thank you.
Another excellent tutorial.
Now I know how to create realistic drop shadows! Thanks, Unmesh!!
Oh, I dont know if this is already mentioned, but in case you dont know, the selection of the circle starts at the corner of the square containing the circle selection. So whenever I need to make a circle selection of something I always use the RULER tool and then mark 2 guide lines touching the ball. Then start the mouse at the cross of the 2 lines.
bruh I've been using photoshop as hobby for like 10+ years and ended up on this video by pure chance, and your "alt+click between layers" changed my photoshop usage forever haha
Thank you very much! You helped me a lot.
Can't believe I didn't know some of this after 15 years of Photoshop. You just blew my mind... again! lol You make mastering this beast of a program look too easy! That's my only complaint
This is really an amazing video 🔥🔥🔥🔥🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I can't control my self to like and comment this video. Don't stop helping us boss. Love from Bangladesh ^_^
