Create Any Animated Stroke Icon in After Effects

Creating an icon animation is easy, but first you need an icon.
You can download free icons with the links in the description.
Open the icon in Adobe Illustrator.
Grab the direct selection tool. Then select your icon.
Copy the path and then go to After Effects.
Create yourself a solid layer and paste the path into the solid.
Now you can go to effect - generate - stroke.
Select All masks, set the pating style to On transparent.
Now you can adjust the brush size and animation the start value to animate your stroke icon.
And that’s how to create a icon stroke animation in After Effects.

simple create a circle and parent it to the stroke line

Make the circle parent-child connection with the animated stroke. It's the spiral icon on the layer panek

After effect support copy/paste for animation curve too, it can be very handy

If it's a vector before converted to 3D in AE, yes. If it's a literal 3D object imported from cinema4D, no.
Ok pasting doens't work from AI to AE. Then I did everything but animating the line: I tried start keyframe and moved it down the timeline and increased the percent to 100.. And the icon sits there like a person on welfare fully non transparent.

Gotta trace the whole object with the pen tool in After effects.

It needs a lot of settings to do to trace perfectly, and sometimes it masks by breaking lines of stroke.

I don't think it's possible to do it. But you can make this inside After Effects without using any other program. You just have to use the pen tool to make the stroke yourself and use the effect Stroke.
