Love the icon emoji styling ,however all images can link to elsewhere even carousel images However you can add custom button via embed code with HTML + style and some JS if you want it to do something specific

Hi - I was tracking with you until the "simple drag and drop" part. I dragged it and dropped it from Google drawings itself because I was unable to drag and drop it from the image I'd just downloaded, and after that I have had a lot of problems. When I hover over it, there is no crop option, so there's an annoying white area above and below my button (when I go into the image in Drawings, it's not there, so I don't know how to change it). It also doesn't allow me to create a link to another website. The only options I have are "Open in a new tab" and "Remove"... what am I doing wrong?

You could set the link to link to a Google drive shared file. That way, the people clicking it would be directed to that file. However the link can be shared in other ways, so it may not be the most secure way to do that.

I cannot find Google drawing, I checked my waffle and even clicked on "More from google Workspace Marketplace" it does not show up in the search. It would much easier if they allowed resizing of buttons directly in the google sites editor.

You could definitely use Google Sites for Blogging if you don't mind added the content on page and publishing each change. In regards to Ads from Google, that's not supported. Other companies provide ad embed code and you could use this but ad-sense is not integrated with Google Sites.

Google sites are not really developed for eshops or online shopping. There are more specific website that have this built into their platform, which I would use to create an online shop.
