I have no idea what making a path is but I did get pretty far on this, thank you!! After I click object to path, I don’t have the un-group at the top like you do. I right clicked and un-grouped that way so I thought I did it right. Then I went on following your steps. In the end with the break apart, I’m having trouble. I can’t get it to separate so I’m guessing I didn’t do the first path steps right in the first place. :/ I keep rewatching your video and trying over and over haha I’ll get it I’m sure! Thank you so such an awesome video! If I knew anything about Inkscape I’m sure I’d have had it the first go haha

Thank you for this tutorial! I am new to Inkscape and am working on a Mac. Everything about this tutorial worked for me up until the "break apart path" near the end. Like your video, when I break apart, the negative/white spaces in the O and R go away, but when I then select the text and use "path combine" the white spaces do not re-appear like they did in your video. Any idea why or what I might be doing wrong? Thanks!

I am trying to save my image and upload it to my designer program but it is telling me that "SVG files cannot contain text layers." I can group the image in inkscape but if I go to path and try to make a union or combine it makes the full image one color instead of keeping the separate colors I selected. Is there a way to make it a path without losing my colors? I hope I am explaining that right! Thank you!

I worked through this tutorial with success....but when I upload my svg to Cricut Design Space, it doesn't transfer all letters with color. For example, the inside of the Ps in Happy are the color of the text and the Ps are while with an outline to cut. This happened twice with two svgs, different letters each time. I don't see a way to upload a screenshot of what it looks like. Please advice as to what I could've missed.
